I took 8 weeks off after my RNY, I work as a personal support worker in a nursing home and I have to lift and reposition people throughout my shift. I didn't want to have any problem with hernias so my doctor said that the 8 weeks was an appropriate amount of time for recovery.

Wishing you the very best!

I took 10 days completely off work and then did 2 weeks of flexible telework. The next week I was in the office part time. The next month I did my regular schedule but was so tired at the end of the day that I couldn't do anything else. I have a desk job but there is some lifting that I had to get help with.

4 weeks of leave, then 2 weeks of no travel and then back to normal. From a pain a recovery perspective, I could have gone back after 2 weeks except I needed the time to build good habits, manage meals, and get over everything exhausting me! Although I felt fine by week 3, it's amazing how tired I would be by end day. I'm an office based worker with about 45- 60% travel.

I had a Monday surgery and was back pushing pencils 2 weeks later. It wasn't that bad but I definitely used those 2 weeks building strength. Everyday I walked a bit farther until I i was doing about 10,000 steps.

I was granted 4 weeks. Pain-wise I could have gone back after 1 week. I have a desk job, no lifting. But I took the full 4 weeks to get a handle on meals, understanding how it felt to eat, and getting my fluids in. I was also tired easily.

no complications.
