Iron infusion finally
P.S. I am incredibly annoyed...reading your post reminded me that I don't have my next appointment on the calendar. So I called the hematologist and they told me my ferritin was 45 at my last blood draw and so I don't need to come in. I said, "Well I know that ferritin is supposed to be between 30 and 400 so while I am not in a "danger zone", I am certainly nowhere near the high". She told me that according to LabCorp, ferritin is fine between 15 and 150, and if they give me iron and get audited, insurance might not pay. Le sigh...why is it always an ongoing fight to have good iron and ferritin numbers!?!
I agree! I've had a ferritin of 12 and was told...not too far below normal, so just take more oral iron. I'm on the patches now and hope that it absorbs better for me since I'm low at the best of times!

Eek! They told me they wouldn?t schedule without the insurance approval and we?ve hit our deductible so I am hopefully not going to have to pay but I really appreciate the heads up.
