6 months post op I've been able to discontinue 1 of the 3 BP drugs I've been taking. I'm still hoping that it might get lower as I get closer to my goal, but I've got a strong family history of hypertension so don't know.

The hospital freaked out immediately post surgery due to my bp spike and they restarted all my meds. Since then I've gotten rid of 2 of the 4 and reduced by more than half the dosage of those. The target will likely be 50 to 100mg of Cozaar as my PCP doubts I'll get off all. Plus she says the Cozaar is beneficial for people with a history of Diabetes (which is in remission post surgery). Remember some thin people have high bp, so there is never a guarantee of all drugs off. I'm likely going to also be on cpap for life, but we'll see in a year. Good luck

I was off both of my BP meds within a month of surgery. My BP remained quite low (110/70-ish) for the first couple of years. For some reason, it has started to creep back up which is upsetting to say the least as I continue to maintain at/below my goal weight. I have recently cut out caffeine (about 2 months ago) and been drinking hibiscus tea daily (which has some evidence that it may help BP, and can't really hurt). My BP has come down some, but is still reading about 125-130/75-85. Not terribly high, but I would prefer to have the systolic come down some.
I know I really need to start adding in cardio, but I've been lazy, I'll just admit it. I think regular cardio could get me where I need to be, and I will start that before going back on any medication. I just need to dig deep and find the proper motivation.
I was on BP medicine and have been totally off of it for 3 and a half years. It took time. I went off one about a week later, and the other at about 6 months.

I still take a low dose BP medication but without a diuretic. It is the diuretic that can cause dehydration.

Before surgery I was on 3 BP meds. I stopped several days before surgery and didn't ever have to go back on them. That said, I monitored my BP very closely, keeping a log of my pressure twice a day and meeting with my PCP every 2 weeks. At first it was on the high side but as the weeks went on, it came down and even got really low for several months before balancing out.
I was also on 3 meds for my diabetes and was immediately able to come off of 2 of them. I stayed on Metformin for several months but kept lowering the dosage. Again, I monitored it closely and stayed in touch with my docs.
That said, RNY and the weight loss usually improve your overall health. For some people, that means no meds, for others a reduction. Only time will tell how it works out for you.
I will also tell you that in my experience my health (BP, diabetes, asthma, etc.) were helped greatly by exercise. The exercise doesn't always increase your weight loss, but it does really improve your circulation and glucose tolerance. I encourage you to start gently walking short distances several times a day and work up.
Work with your doctors for your best health.
