What's on your Sunday Menu RNYers?
Good Morning everyone!
Feel oh, so much better this morning! I can't even imagine what is going on inside of me.
Last night DH and I with some good friends went to dinner at a super small restaurant in Fortescue, NJ. My elementary music teacher was there performing! I loved seeing him and listening to him again. I felt like I was back in music class.
QOTD: I am a teacher and I return from summer break tomorrow. (I go back to work.) I love my job. I love the kids and the experiences they get to have. It's so fun to watch a kid 'get it' after struggling with a tough subject. Most rewarding part of my job has been former students becoming teachers and asking to have lunch with me during the summer. What is your job/career? Do you like it? What is the most rewarding thing you get from your work?
Menu
B: egg
L: leftover from dinner last night - crab with a little bit of summer squash medley
D: DH is smoking a pork roast on the smoker with sliced garden tomatoes
Have a great Sunday!

Morning all! I didn't have to be up for anything this morning and just stayed in bed napping and petting the cats. It was divine!
Bethmel, so glad that you are feeling better and that you got to enjoy time with friends and good music!
Today should be another restful one. After I finish my breakfast, I plan to take my second cup of coffee outside to work in my flower beds a bit. They need some tending and cleanup. It is supposed to get hot and humid so I'd like to beat the heat a bit. Then we are meeting friends at an Irish Pub for brunch. It seems that we are all going through change right now so it will be great to catch up. The menu is online and it looks like they have nice omelets or if they have it a steak salad...yum!
Then this afternoon more Netflix streaming. DW wants to watch the movie of one of our fave books (hope it's good), The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Last night we watched some DCI Banks and Call the Midwife.
QOTD: It wasn't my first career, but I have a degree as a librarian. I had hoped to do cataloging full time and really loved it, but found my job at the Library of Congress and have remade myself yet again. I really miss my dream, but there are different challenges in what I do now and I have done my best to make it work.
Accountability: had a divine TJ's Morning Glory muffin with a cup of Ethiopian coffee yesterday afternoon. Not the best choice but I'm not going to beat myself up about it.
Menu:
B: ham, HB eggs
S: Cappuccino protein shake w/ iced coffee
L: spinach, ham omelet or a steak salad with balsamic vinegrette
S: Buddig's turkey packet, small apple
Dinner: steak, squash

I'm glad to see that you are feeling better. When I saw you had started the thread I read your post on your doctor appointment. It sounds like you may get an answer for why you are feeling lousy which is great!
We had a full day yesterday with company here, getting ready for DS's birthmom's wedding and the wedding itself. Really a wonderful day, but exhausting. I had no meal plan and ate what I wanted, but only the best stuff and I didn't feel like I went crazy, so I'm okay with it.
QOTD: I am retired as of November (yeah!). I was a manager mostly for IT related departments at an insurance company previously. My biggest reward was developing people so that they could move up in their careers. And yes, that often meant they had to leave my department which some other managers thought was crazy but I wanted the best for my people. In the end, they were super appreciative, some came back to work for me later, and others came to work for me because they had heard that I was that kind of manager.
2 Years, 5 months post-op (maintaining below goal for 21 months)
Always lots of coffee...
B: eggs, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon
L: probably grilled chicken (at neighborhood BBQ)
D: Leftover salmon burger
S: cottage cheese

Happy Sunday!! Oh, I wanted to sleep in today but I am up and ready to shower and head for the airport. I'll appreciate it when I get to the hotel in Florida in time to relax and get ready for the week ahead....but right now I'm tired.
QOTD - I'm an Operations VP at a technology company, right now I'm running a pricing and master data group; I have been in all the different groups since I started 22 years ago as a temp so they move me around to fill gaps/take on problem areas which keeps things fresh, so I like it. I love that I get to solve problems for my customers and my company and that I have people that have followed me across teams/roles because they think I'm a tough but fair leader.
B - last piece of my cheese crust pizza; this was as yummy dish but definitely an occasional splurge...and very occasional now that I realize it takes 4 days to get through it, lol
S - coffee + half and half
L - 2 oz chicken curry deli slices and a baby bell
D - dannon light and fit or meatballs from the hotel menu
701 calories, 60 protein, 17 carbs
Have a great Sunday all!

Your tough but fair' leader comment reminded of something that was said to me when I was doing an investigation recently-- the employee said 'its known that I rule with an iron fist,' I giggled, but there is definite truth to that. I'm no nonsense and I'd prefer people know that about me before anything else.

Mornin' Weekenders!
I'm meeting my sister in about an hour for coffee - it's her birthday today, and Mom and I are leaving after lunch for Chicago, so we won't get to have the usual birthday dinner with her. I'm really looking forward to going to Chicago, and i know my mom is as well. The purpose, of course, is my plastic surgery follow-up appt tomorrow morning, but I love getting out of town for a couple of days, staying at a hotel, and eating Middle Eastern food (it seems like they have Middle Eastern restaurants EVERYWHERE down there!!). We could have left here super early tomorrow morning and gone directly to the hospital, but all this other stuff makes it a really fun trip. DH will be home monitoring Ruthie, our kitty who had surgery last week, and keeping an eye on the rain. They're expecting a lot of flooding in town if it's as bad as they're predicting. After the horrible flooding a week ago, it's not going to take much...
QOTD: I'm a retired librarian (I worked for a university library for the last 16 years, and at our state library for the eight years before that). It's a second career for me as well. Before that, I worked in various (college) student services - housing, career planning, and financial aid. My degrees are in computer science, counseling, and library science (weird combo, I know....). The thing I like most about my career(s) was working with college students - and being on a college campus. Even in retirement, I'm looking forward to joining the retirement association and attending events on campus.

Do the Badgers start their season next weekend?

Morning everyone!! Run is done and I even cleaned the bathroom already. I'll shower, make breakfast and head to cleaning the living room. I want the house in order for the start of the school for the kids. That's really my only plan today.
qotd: I'm an HR Manger for the Fire Department. I absolutely love my career. What makes it good-- making a person a job offer literaly changes the course of a person's life. I really don't see too many negatives in my job-- discipline & terminations are parts of the job, but people cause those actions on their own, I just execute the consequence. I have worked with many, many profession and public safety is definitely my favorite (although they are a horribly spoiled group!). I would love to work more in helping people develop thier career and jump 'hurdles' to make it to the next level.

m2: steak, salad
