I'm just wondering about this soup.

3.5g Fat

2g fiber

3g sugars

2g protein

27g carbs

I am 10 days out RNY. This should be safe to eat?

If there are tiny/super mushy potato chunks, it may be safe to eat, but you shouldn't eat it. That is a horrible protein to carb ratio. I'd suggest something with more protein in it

Well I am just wanting something tasty. Not a meal replacement. It has tiny mushy potatoes in it. Still having a hard time mentally with not eating good food.

Hi LM, I'm a bit over 6 months out so have been where you are recently! One thing that may help is working on the idea that you can't eat "good food" -- you can and you will, it just needs to be protein first. The head hunger/head issues are real for all of us.

Are you still on full liquids or purees? If full liquids still, are you varying your protein shake flavors; trying different broths? Does your full liquid phase include yogurts and sf popsicles? Some do, but follow your drs plan. You can also search the forum for suggestions.

If you're on puree/soft foods, you have so many options -- I know people love the Eggface ricotta bake (check out her world according to eggface blog); if you scroll all the way down on the home page, on the left had side she has links to recipes for each stage of your journey.

Hope you find something high in protein and enjoyable for yourself today.

I second the ricotta bake! It was like heaven to eat "real" food finally!

Safe, maybe, smart- no. I would absolutely not eat this at 10 weeks out, 10 months out or 10 years out. And you don't even mention the calories? That's important too, but even if it were only 100 calories, I still would not eat it.

This is not protein dense and is a slider food. You have a lifetime ahead of you for tasty foods-- lose the weight now, dip your toes into tasty later.

I wouldn't. For me, nothing tasted good. Even at 8 months out food doesn't taste good. I grieved good tasting food in the beginning but now I eat because I get the shakes if I don't. Your pouch is new and you will get to have tasty food again but for now I'd steer clear of potato soup.

You can't measure your achievements with someone else's yardstick!

Purée up some split pea with ham. That'll at least have much more protein.

I guess it's all in my head. Thanks for the support and guiding me in the right direction. I am able to eat SF popsicles yogurt pudding jello and Monday the 27th I start mushy foods.

My issue was that I got tired of sweet flavored stuff and wanted savory. I did a lot of chicken and beef bouillon and broth. But be patient. You'll be in mushy/puréed foods soon and it will feel like a whole world of possibilities after being on liquids so long! Stay the course for now and white-knuckle through it. It will pay off!
