Hey guys, not that this is an awful thing but opposite of what I was expecting. I had surgery 8-9 days ago and can seemly eat and drink more than I thought.

I can drink water and other liquids much quicker than expected with no discormfort. Like 1-2 ounces with one drink.

I can eat a full pre-packaged jello, 1 or 2 pouches of apple sauce or mashed potatoes in 1-2 minutes with no pain or discomfort what so ever.

Problem with this is I want to try new foods because I have not came anywhere near my boundary but want to make sure I don't tear my pouch.

Anyone else experienced something like this?

Your nerves have been cut and you won't feel anything. Don't eat more than your team told you and don't try to see what you can eat to feel discomfort because you can't feel anything right now and yes you can hurt yourself. Also, don't eat potatoes and other carbs. It won't gget you to where you need to go.

A lot do but it's counter productive to eat carbs right now. You Should only eat protein rich foods. I always made sure my food had 1 ram of protein for every 10 calories. In the beginning I ate a lot of Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. My team suggested mashed potatoes and cream of wheat but I listened to the advice I got here instead of my teams advice on that.

Do not try to eat until you feel restriction. You are numb from having the nerves of your stomach cut and may not actually feel restriction for a few weeks. I never regained that feeling (I'm 6 months out) and if I try to eat until I do feel restriction I only end up sick and in pain.

You are on soft slider foods right now also. Once you graduate to denser food, you will probably notice a difference. But for now, STICK TO YOUR SURGEONS PLAN. Measure out the amount they've told you to eat and no more. You may not be able to feel if you are hurting yourself at this point.

2 minutes - learn to slow down please. It will make a difference in a year if you SLOOOOW down. Use this time to learn. When you feel restriction, you've eaten too much (this after you heal - so just eat by weights and measures and time). Make this tool work for you and stop testing it. Good luck.

A lot of posted the same concern a week or two after surgery. It normal, trust me once you start trying g to eat dense protein you will see/feel the difference. Personally I say drop the mashed potatoes, they are useless and wasted calories. Stay focused on protein your body needs that more.

Eat what the surgeon office says. It is important to follow the directions they give you right now.

I am 15 days post RNY today. So far I have focused on 2 tsp of cottage cheese or greek yogurt. I have had no desire to eat yet, but I am doing so in the quantities suggested because I do not want to have any complications. I have been walking between 30 and 60 minutes a day since the day I came home from the hospital 2 days post op. My main struggle has been keeping hydrated. I find it difficult to take in 64 the ounces of water they want me to take in, with the 30 minutes dry before eating, and the 1 hour dry after eating.

My only suggestion would be don't ru****!
