10 days out RNY!
Hello all, I am new to the group.
I am a 35 year old husband and father. I reached 487 lbs before I realized my weight was out of control!
I had my RNY on the 13th of Aug 2018. Everything is going great. Surgery was as smooth as it could have been the surgeon said.
Just had my staples and my JP drain removed today. I have lost 20 lbs all ready for a total of 65 lbs since I have started my journey.
I am very excited and scared. I love food so it has been hard mentally the past few days. Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

We had pretty much the same high weight, so ivecalready walked in your shoes. The best advice I can give is, work this surgery like it's a full time job. Track every calorie. Don't eat anything you don't need to eat. Sprint to the finish line. The faster you get the weight off, the better your chances are for success.
That's a good looking tyke in your avatar. Do it so you can be there when they grow up.
6'3" tall, male.
Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.

Welcome, Imccormick82: you have landed upon a website forum I find helpful in addition to attending an active, local support group. I believe there are some WLSers that hit the pavement running with little need for outside help. Then, I think there are WLSers like me that stumble along. Wishing you Success.
Morning and congrats on your surgery. This is a great journey but not always easy. WLS is a tool to improve your life but it doesn't fix your brain. Stick to plan, get all the support you can and take charge of your new life. You can do this!

I'm a relative newbie, joined the board at end of Jan, RNY in Feb. welcome to the group! Lots of good advice from people here and it's a great place for questions! Definitely join us on the menu threads and use the search function too -- there's a wealth of information out here.

Welcome and congratulations on your surgery! I hope you will join in on our daily menu thread. It helps! Folks post what they are eating, and in general we get to know one another. It is very supportive. Also, use this time to really focus and follow your plan without deviation. The first 12-18 months after surgery are when you must really narrow your focus, resist testing boundaries, and make a headlong rush towards your goal, because now is when profound change can really happen quickly. Later it gets harder. Go for it! You can definitely do it! Glad to have you here, and wishing you the very best!
