Good morning and happy Wednesday. I'm going to try and keep today light in terms of food. I'm going to dinner with two of my best friends. We all actually went to UCLA at the same time, but because of the size of the school and our areas of study, we never really knew each other. We became friends after we graduated, and we're going on 15 years of friendship. Anyway, the restaurant is a small plates type of place, but I know there will be some off plan things on the menu that they'll pick. When i first agreed to do dinners with them again after surgery, I used to scare them with how little I would eat and how I wouldn't deviate. So much so that when one of my friends ran a 10k with my surgeon, she spent the first few miles grilling him about my eating habits. I still eat a small amount compared to them and don't deviate (much), but it's now more comfortable and we don't focus on my food consumption quite as much.

PPQOTD: This was before i began my surgeon's program, and even though I was really prepared, I thought that my restriction would make it so I would stay satisfied with 2 oz of food for ever. It didn't.

My plan:

B: Bacon and an egg yolk. One of my co-workers has taken to giving me the yolks from his HB eggs. I was in his office when he was peeling an egg and he dumped the yolk in the trash. In horror I asked what he was doing. He said eating them isn't healthy for him. I didn't want to get into the whole food cholesterol/blood cholesterol debate so I just told him not to waste perfectly good protein and fat. The yolks now come my way. So I've reduced my bacon consumption by a slice and added in an egg yolk.

L: Sliced turkey and a cheese stick

D: a selection of yumminess. I know for sure I'll have the guts from a lobster BLT slider and braised chicken meatballs with fresh ricotta cheese. Anything else will depend on what my friends order and I'll likely just have a bite. The meatballs are FILLING.

S: I stopped and got a coffee with NF milk.

E: Nothing because of dinner

I feel like I am posting late today. My internet has been off and on all day. Every time I try and send, it doesn't work.

I feel emotional today and in a funk. I hate PMS. I feel like the older I get, the worse it is. I have zero energy! I slept in until 6:15 this morning, which is very unlike me. If anyone has any hints for helping with PMS, please let me know!

QOTD- I was delusional to think that I would just have this surgery and never have to deal with food issues ever again. This is harder than I thought!! Every day I still have to make that choice.

Food for today-

2 eggs, 1/2 c. cottage cheese

4 oz grilled pork loin from last night with spicy mustard.

sauteed smoked chicken sausage with 1/2 c. cabbage

Light and fit pumpkin yogurt ( so good)

Have a great day everyone. Be kind to yourself.

Hope you feel better soon! There are different types of PMS, each of which has a somewhat different hormonal signature. Mostly I just waited it out, but it was helpful to realize halfway through my tears and blues that my upset didn't just arise spontaneously, but was due to the TOM.

Right before my WLS, I got the Mirena IUD and it literally changed everything about my 'lady days'. They used to control me physically and emotionally to no end it seemed. I rarely even think about it now. I know isn't the same for everyone, but it was like night and day for me. Feel better!

Hi all! Happy Wednesday!

Peach, well done on being down 4# from your ?WTF?! high!

I'm enjoying Celestial Seasonings Vermont Maple Ginger tea, it's one of their spicy blends but not too intense, just tasty. I find some of their spice blends to be too much - medicinally spicy instead of at the level of a pleasant beverage. I always like tea with milk (I use cashew milk), it is comforting and gives it a bit more body. I also like it sweetened, but don't always have it that way.

Still working on organizing and consolidating my work area - should be complete tomorrow. Have a ton of big cardboard boxes to take to recycling!

QOTD: I was very reluctant to seriously consider WLS, always thinking that I could accomplish weightloss myself without surgery. And I did - over, and over, and over, to the point of being emotionally exhausted. Finally I decided to go for it to give myself the best chance of retaining my loss.

I was worried about vitamin deficiencies. I still am. But I am very committed to taking everything I need to take, and to getting testing done, and will always endeavor to take care of myself that way. I was turned off by descriptions of dumping, which sounds miserable, but I was a flat-out sugar addict, so dumping actually would not be the worst thing ever. I have no idea yet if I dum*****t. The only sugar I have had since surgery has been that in blueberries and in blackberries, and I have not dumped from those.

First: delicious mugs of tea!

B: Pot roast

L: tuna

D: chicken

Snack: probably another bite of pot roast - like salmon, I can't eat much of this at a time!no

have a wonderful day, my friends!

I like it - It has that buzzy spiciness many of their spice blends have, but it isn't overwhelming. I hope you like it, too!
