Oh totally! I am the same way. It makes me work harder. I will look at someone and say "Well she's bigger/older/fitter/smaller than me, so I should be able to do burpees that quickly too/should do burpees more quickly to be as fit as her! Come on, let's go!" (but I say it all in my mind) and then I push myself so much harder :)

Except when it comes to running...I am more like "Oh hell, how is he/she running 7 mph, what a beast!" and I go on with my slow jog lol.

I love classes but hate the elliptical/treadmill cardio part of the workout. I also hate running! BUT, I found the secret to do it and not think about it. Audibles. Music bores me after a while and how often can I listen to a playlist? I found myself tuning the music off and think about my misery working out. But once I'm listening to a book I get so into it that sometimes I do more than my allotted time because I'm in the middle of chapter and gotta know what's going on.

Funny story : there is a really nice forest near my home with great trails that people go jogging. There are a lot of nature loving runners who run in complete silence to experience the nature. One day I'm doing my jog (walk/jog) listening to a murder mystery. This guy passes me, enjoying his run like a gazelle. It just so happens in my book they revealed the culprit and it was a total surprise for me because I hadn't suspected him. So I gasped and said noooooo! Well, the poor guy in front of me stumbled and almost fell. He was so upset at me. I couldn't stop giggling.

Anyway, give Audibles a try...they make the time go by so much faster.

Funny you mention this, I actually started my love affair with audiobooks several years ago when I was going to the Gym regularly (before my daughter)...because I also get bored with music after a while and I am a Book fanatic. I actually listen to audiobooks every day on my commute to work too...and I do listen to them sometimes when I work out...We also got a TV mounted to the wall in front of our little workout area in the basement so I usually watch a show or movie on netflix while I am working out and that keeps me occupied for an hour or so, for the same reasons lol.

G'morning all!

JB - so good to see you and your funny memes.

QOTD: I didn't grow up with muppets, they weren't dubbed in other countries when I was little. So I didn'****ch them until I had kids. But I think I'm the Cookie Monster. My entire weight gain is due to sweets, not food, so I'm definitely a Cookie Monster.

Accountability: good

B: protein coffee

L: turkey chili

S: cheese

D: epic chicken (will be at WLS support meeting).

Have a great Tue everyone.

Good Morning Menu friends!

QOTD: Not really sure..never really liked the muppets. LOL! Its been years since I've seen them.

B-Premier Protein Shake

S-peanuts

L-Smoked Chicken with other half of side salad from yesterday's lunch.

D-Boy Scout court of honor dinner..so no telling what they will have. I will most likely just eat when I get home. This new troop we have transferred to just has the kids plan and bring things. Typically theres a nugget tray from chik fil a, a fruit tray, chips, pizza rolls..etc.. You see the pattern here. My son and I both usually eat when we get home. We would skip it but he has a couple of merit badges he is getting awarded. During Marching season we typically don't go to the meetings b/c practice doesn't end until 6:30 and the meeting is 30 mins away and starts at 7, but tonight we will go. :)

Hope everyone has a great day!!

What a pleasant surprise to see you on here this morning, JB! I hope things will calm down for you. I've always worked in higher ed, not K-12, but for us August until about mid-Sept was always crazy. Once everyone was back and settled in and the semester was underway, the workload got a lot more tolerable. I hope that will happen for you as well.

I think I might have overdone it the last couple of days (after PS - it's been about 12 days). Nothing crazy, but just too much too soon. Very achy this morning - and I'm a little worried a stitch or two might have opened up on my right side (it's really hard to tell because he covered all the incisions with surgical tape - but it looks a little redder than before - like it might have been bleeding a little). Too much sliding in and out of cars, being on my feet, opening doors at businesses (again, nothing crazy, but maybe too much for someone who just had surgery a few days ago). I'm planning to stay home the next couple of days - maybe just go out briefly if I have to and come right home afterward.

QOTD: my siblings would probably say Oscar, but I don't know.... I didn't really watch Sesame Street when I was young because I was a little too old for it when it first came out (my younger sibs watched it, though), and I never had children, so... I'm sure there's a muppet who somewhat matches my personality, but if so, I'm not familiar enough with them (other than the major ones) to know which one!

3 years 2 months out:

B: homemade Greek yogurt with chocolate protein powder and raspberries

MS: coffee with half & half, Miralax/protein shake

L: pimento cheese and crackers

AS: protein shake

D: last night DH made one of those Birds Eye "Veggie Made" pasta entrees (the "pasta" is made from zucchini and lentils) and gave me about 1/2 C of it with three turkey meatballs on top. I may do that again (and since he can't cook, he may be more than willing to make that again!)

It's easy once you are off the heavy drugs to feel good enough to do more and get bored. Problem is that the incisions and your body as a whole really need the rest and down time. Be careful and gentle with yourself!

I'm going to take it easy the next couple of days - if not the rest of the week. I hate being stuck in my house, but I think this is the best place for me. I did run an errand this morning, but I came right back home. Probably should have let DH run it for me instead...

speaking of rest, my sleeping has been crazy. Eight- to over nine hours almost every night! That is unheard of for me! Before surgery, even seven hours was a lot. Either my Fitbit is way off - or my body just needs a ton of sleep right now! (probably the latter!)
