What's on your Saturday Menu RNY'ers?
The smoke is much better today so I walked outside this morning. I saw a wild bunny rabbit on the trail it was so cute.
QOTD: I need to learn some better techniques for handling stress. Yesterday was terrible, screamed at my computer which doesn't really help. I play World of Warcraft, killing things helps. Honestly I'm totally non-violent but this just helps me get my frustrations out. I've been working with a coach from my insurance company to find ways to deal with stress. I'm trying to get the attitude that it's in my pile and I'll get to it when I can. Instead of stressing over it, I keep a list of my pending projects on a dry erase board, and things always get shifted as urgent work gets to the top of the list. Which means you never get to the rest of the list and that frustrates me. But it's the reality of too much work and not enough people.
I have to go help my Mom tomorrow, she fell in the shower last week and bought some non-slip tape that we need to put in the shower. The little flowers no longer are non-slip and need to be removed and replaced. I'm hoping this works. She was able to get up on her own, and she wasn't really hurt. She is 83 and lives alone since my Dad died in 2007. She has Life Alert or the equivalent and will use it if she needs help. I live about 15 miles or 30 minutes away so I can't really be there quickly. She no longer drives which is a good thing, and uses the lift service and has neighbors and others who will help her. I used to drive her but since I'm a contractor if I don't work I don't get paid so it isn't really feasible for me to do it any longer. She is healthy enough to continue to live on her own, and with the cost of assisted living it isn't really an option. She used to have Visiting Angels come in but hasn't had them lately. Her hope is to live out the rest of her life in her own home. My brother, my only sibling has basically been gone since he was 18. He lives in California and we rarely see him and he really can't be counted on for any assistance.
I love the Syntrax Nectars, so far I've tried Roadside Lemonade, Fuzzy Navel, and Twisted Cherry they are all good. I ordered a large of the Lemonade. I'm so happy I tried them, thank you to all who suggested them.
The scale went down .1 lb, any movement is a victory.
I just finish reading Sarai Walker's Dietland. It really made me think and I'm still processing it. I've watched to AMC series but it veers far afield from her novel. As a working adult I got my Bachelor's Degree and one of my minors was Gender Studies. My senior project was on Gendered Violence, a series of essays and other writings on violence against women in its many forms. I've always worked in traditionally male jobs and wanted to understand some of the dynamics involved. Even now I'm the only woman in my job where I work, there are a few other women in the office but they don't do what I do so it isn't really the same. My Mother came from an era that did not understand or approve of feminism, and was against women working in some jobs.
Sorry I've probably gone on too long, thanks for reading this. Enjoy your weekend!

Good morning weekend menu buddies! While it is still morning anyway. I am still not feeling 100%, but so much better than yesterday.
Peach, I am so sorry for everything happening around you at work. Try not to take too much of it on yourself. Easier said than done though.
