What's on your Thursday Menu RNY'ers?
Sorry you are battling with the acid. I've seen you posting about it for the last week or so. Any particular reason it has kicked up so much of late? Do you need to explore doing anything for it other than your current routine? Obviously we see this on the VSG forum a lot, but most of the people with unresolved acid convert to RNY?

An Allergist/Pulmonologist I was seeing pre-surgery told me he thought I had Silent GERD. Of course I didn't believe him because, well. Silent. The test he wanted to do sounded just horrible. Put a small tube down your nose to your stomach to measure your acid for 24hours. Then go about your normal life...No Doc if I have a tube down my nose there is no normal life.
I am thankful I did not get the VSG, I can only imagine how bad it would be.
Omeprezole stopped working about 6 months ago, I gave that up when even with it, it hurt just to drink water. so now I take double OTC dose Prevacid AM and double OTC dose Zantac PM. I no longer cycle on and off, given up that ghost... I take the meds all the time.
It tends to go in cycles of bad... it get set off ... honestly I usually don't know why, and then takes awhile to calm down.
Ok guess this has just become a vent.
I have more than heartburn... actually that's usually secondary my big ones are nausea and literally feeling like I cannot swallow.
So what set it off? Last week I made a small tray of lower carb eggplant parmigiana. Red sauce I guess. Ate some 2 days before- no problem. Was in the middle of eating lunch and started spontaneously dry heaving then ran to bathroom and heaved just acid. Pretty. Been a roller coaster since.
Due for my 4 year surgeons check up. I know they would probably want to do an endoscopy- which I wouldn't have a problem with but I have a $1500 copay.
Yesterday was in Target and needed to open Tums in the aisle and eat a few. I bought them of course. That's about where I'm at.

Wow, I am so sorry to read that it's been that bad! I know you'd been posting about pain and limitations due to excess acid, but this sounds way beyond what most experience. I have no advice, just wish you well and hope this calms down and resolves very quickly. Hang in there!

the wedge pillow I bought for LBL recovery has really helped with the night time acid (not the stuff during the day, though, obviously). I'm going to continue to this pillow just for that reason. It's made a big difference! Day time acid is still an issue, though. I just have my arsenal with me at all times..
Good morning y'all! Potluck at work today so I'm loading up my crockpot full of Swedish meatballs, and I also made a vegan cucumber dip to take. Since we have a vegan on staff, I try to make a little vegan effort. I know she appreciates having more than just her own dish to eat and has asked me for several recipes. I realize it might be a polite way of making SURE I didn't sneak any animal in her food. ;)
qotd: I guess based on that, I've learned a lot about vegan cooking and what a wide world of alternatives there are, and most of them taste just fine :)
breakfast: coffee and premier
lunch: whatever good protein options exist today! If anything, I'll have meatballs at least.
Dinner: chicken parm (maybe zucchini noodles with that)
