What's on your Thursday Menu RNY'ers?
hey yall- decided to start us out. scale punishing me for some added cardio and salt and probably poo to be honest...
QOTD: Share something new you have learned or experienced weight loss, food or exercise related. Or not related?
1) you guys know my tadpole saga-frogs are adorable when they grow their little legs and hope out of a baby pool in your yard off to their new life. I can't get over it
BONUS Question: those that drive to work everyday plus try to have a life. What does your schedule look like? How do you balance work, food, and working out>? My work situation is going to change next month and I will be driving in 1 hour each way 3-4 days a week. So I'm stressing about what that means for me and don't want to get off path.
2 more days of modified schedule then regular schedule monday, then we are on VACATION! In Miami/keys area for 1 week so if there is anyone in the area let me know! Happy for a meetup!
Food: accountability on point. I did buy some WASA cracker at walmart because I had a rebate ibotta for it and I did eat 3 of those throughout the day, 35 cal each. not too bad and didn't blow my stats. We had turkey hot dogs for dinner so I probably salt bombed myself.
Food for today:
more coffee
going to add in more water
protein pancakes
lunch meat pack
maybe tuna?
Dinner is undecided as of yet
Gym after work :)
Morning Hillary and menu folks! I'm working from home today to rest my foot more. I went to Urgent Care after work yesterday and got an x-ray. The good news is that I don't have a serious fracture...yippee! The bad news is that the x-ray shows evidence of past damage that needs to be evaluated by an ortho doc. ugh! I know that I've broken the toe before but I don't remember a particularly bad break. I'm taping the toe to the next one for stability and wearing a "boot" to help keep it straight...ugh! The UC doc really wants me to see the ortho soon, but I think I'm going to talk to my PCP first and see what she says. Glad to know this will heal even if it is slow. Going to try to put it up more in the next few days.
Question: the UC doc really wants me to take an anti-inflammatory, but NSAIDS are out. Can I take aspirin or is there something else that isn't bad for the pouch?
DW has more testing this afternoon and after work I will go in to meet her to be supportive. Hoping that this gives us more info.
QOTD: I've avoided strength and balance training for many years. I don't usually mind cardio but weights scare me. Working out with the trainer over the last few weeks has really begun to develop more strength in my body and my muscles are becoming more defined. Hoping that it will improve my bone density numbers when I have my next Dexa at the end of September.

Thanks Pat! That is what I thought. Just got off the phone with my surgeon and he says that coated Advil with food is okay, but that doesn't sound right to me. What is your experience?

No advil either. I know you did a separate post about this. I would try epsom salt soaks and elevate as much as you are able. True elevation is having the extremidy higher than the heart. With a busy lifestyle, a good option is elevating the foot of your bed.
My sister has an on your feet for 9+ hrs job and her feet swell terribly. She swears by epsom salts in ice water!
I hope you are able to find something that gives you relief!
**edited to add -- compression can help, like an ace bandage. They do make very thin ones...
Good news on the toe (sort of) - bad news on the anti-inflammatory. Maybe call your surgeon for suggestions on any possible anti-inflammatories, especially if the ortho says they are needed?

Sorry to hear you are still having problems with your toe, but glad you got it checked out. Hoping for good info on DW, too.
