Also wanted to ask those of you who use vitamin patches whether you have skin reactions to them. I've been using them for several months now and sometimes I get red patches where I stick them. I used to put them on my chest, but the rashes were more pronounced. Now I rotate them between my upper arms, shoulders and back. They are much easier than remembering to take pills at different times, but I don't like the red spots. I assume that it is the glue on the patches and not the patches themselves since I do get rashes from medical tape and bandaids.

No advice about the patches but I also have skin that is very sensitive to adhesives like bandaids and such. You're likely right about it being the adhesive and not the patch itself.

A lifetime ago I used patches to quit smoking and they irritated my skin so badly. I would get these thick red welts that would be painful then itch. Although I don't know if it was the nicotine or the glue, I have no desire to go through that again. I don't have issues with band aids or medical tape either.

If I have to wear a bandaid at the same place for more than one day, the resulting rash can be worse than the wound! Paper tape isn't as bad and thankfully it isn't a latex allergy.

I've been out of health care for a little while now but there was a product called "Skin Prep".

It came in little packets like alcohol wipes. You painted/wiped it on the area where the adhesive would stick to the skin. It's important to the it dry before applying the patch. It will feel tacky until it drys. In my wound care days we used this often, sometimes "protecting" areas that would be prone to bed sores.

The trick is to make sure it is dry before putting something on it.

Mike, so good to hear from you! I know your summer has been busy, but it is always good to hear how you're doing.

Curious about what you are doing in your workouts now. I know you had been with a trainer for a while. Is that still working for you?

Also all the best to Ryley in his new adventure and good luck to you and DW on the Empty Nest thing!

I worked with a trainer for 12 weeks , still utilizing the program. I do more cardio than prescribed though. I struggle with muscle vs scale. Inches lost vs scale. I seem to hover in the 201-205 range. Though I know I can do much better with my accountability and clean eating. Thank you for asking!
