What's on your Monday menu RNYer's?
Morning menu folks! Thought I'd start us out since I'm up and online.
I had a nice weekend of relaxation and some catching up around the house. Also went to a house warming for some friends who moved a few months ago. They requested home baked goods, so I whipped up some fudge brownies and lemon bars. I did have 2 bites of the lemon bars but otherwise stuck to protein (lox and HB eggs). The lemon bars were definitely yummy but really rich and the 2 bites was more than enough. No bagels though!
QOTD: There are only 3 more weeks until Labor Day (the unofficial end of the summer season). Do you have plans to get in anything before the fall routine starts again? I'd really like to get in another picnic. With my broken toe, I can't get in all of the summer hikes I'd hoped to, but there will still be a couple of months before the weather gets too cold and I'll just have to wait. We didn't get to the beach of the Bay this summer, but it just won't happen this year. I'd like to do a weekend trip to Skyline Drive (Shenandoah National Park) but fall is beautiful there too with the colored leaves.
Accountability: 2 bites of lemon bar, otherwise pretty good.
Menu:
B: scrambled eggs, turkey bacon
S: Isopure cookies & cream Zero Carb protein shake/iced coffee, chomps
L: beef & broccoli
S: Buddig's turkey packet, small apple
D: hamburger, broccoli slaw
Exercise: 1/2 hour cyber session with my trainer plus more workout on my own

Mornin All!
I have my first post op appt with my plastic surgeon this morning. He'll let me know if its ok to go home today. I hope so! I liked staying at the hotel, but I'm ready to go home and get back to somewhat of a routine (albeit limited for the next few wks!)
It's painful to stand, walk, and transition. Sitting and lying down are fine. I do have painkillers. It seems like they're not doing much, but I guess they're taking the edge off it. I just try to minimize doing things that hurt, although I do make myself get up and walk once in awhile. I'm curious to see what i look like - I'll see it for the first time today at my appt, but i expect I'll be bruised and swollen, so it may be hard to tell.
Accountability has been great, mostly because I have zero appetite. I do try to get around 1000 calories and 100 grams of protein a day since my body needs it to heal. I'd love to take advantage of no appetite to lose more weight, but I feel like I need a minimum for healing. At any rate, my maintenance level is 1500-1700, so I am taking in a lot fewer calories than normal. .
Qotd: no plans or goals really since I suspect I won't be doing much until the end of the month other than taking it easy!
3 years 2 months out
B: Greek yogurt and fresh fruit, coffee with half and half
MS: protein shake
L: something high protein that I can eat on the road - we brought a lot of yogurt, protein shakes, cheese sticks, and turkey sticks with is , so some combo of that
As: protein shake
D: probably the same as lunch
So glad that you are checking in. I hope your appointment goes well and that you get to go home to rest. When do you see him again? I saw the PS twice a week for the first 3 weeks until all of my drains are out. Will you be following up with a local doc or driving back to Chicago for more appointments? Use a small pillow to cushion your belly from the seat belt. Also it is even more important to rest after PS than after WLS. Do your short slow walks, but then rest, rest, rest!
Also regarding your appetite, Liz and others encouraged me to get in 120-150 g of protein for several weeks post-op to help with the healing. I didn't feel like eating, so I did extra shakes for protein and fluids.
Hang in there and keep ahead of the pain!
