What's on your Sunday Menu RNYers?
Yep - I've been walking. It's painful but I know I have to do it occasionally (well, I definitely need to to get to the bathroom!!). I walk all hunched over because the incisions really burn - I don't want to irritate them even more! Plus I'm guessing standing straight up is going to pull on them too much. Sitting is the least painful (Actually, not really painful at all). Lying down involves some pain, probably because it pulls the incisions s bit more than sitting does, but it's not bad. Waking and standing are another story....
Don't even try to stand straight for a while. It will pull on the incisions. Take the transitions slow and you will get better at it as time passes. The pain is real though so be gentle with yourself. Also prop yourself up a bit when you are lying down. I bought a wedge pillow that eased the abdominal pulling.

Good morning. It is gray here and everyone is moving slowly so I am by myself with Justice.
QOTD: My most memorable trip is probably my honeymoon when we went to Bermuda for a week. However, my absolutely favorite trip was the two weeks when we went to Italy in 2011 for our 30th anniversary. In 3 weeks we will be in Europe for our Scotland, Ireland and Paris trip. Perhaps it will become my most memorable? It will most likely be our last big trip regardless due to DH's Alzheimer's.

QOTD: I really haven't traveled or vacationed much but I did travel to Mexico recently for my bariatric issues. I would say that has been the most memorable for me especially in political context of the past few years. It was such a humbling experience and I really think that anyone who can manage it should try to travel and experience other cultures as much as they are able to. I really am not able to travel at this point in my life but I think I might try to learn another language or just learn more outside my geographical bubble in general. I have a younger sibling who lived abroad for several years for work and grew a lot. She also traveled while living abroad and posted so many neat things on social media during her excursions. It was neat to see.
Accountability: I am still working on the moving target of nutrition and what makes my body feel ok/better/best. I can tolerate some fat and food based natural sugar if I eat slowly like we are supposed to anyways, or sometimes slower (although I realize monitoring this down the road is key because I don't want to create a bad habit of grazing once I am more stable nutritionally). I am working on spreading out the protein/fat/sugars more evenly and discovering what times of day my body will receive more and feel better. I am staying hydrated, meeting goals but it is that time of the month and I started feeling that light headed feeling a few times so I am adding more salt today. Listening to my body combined with what I know I need to do and trying to take it easy when I can to make up for when I have to push through and just do things.
Keep working at it!! You will figure out what works best for you soon so you feel stronger. Hang in there!!

Good morning and happy Sunday. Yesterday was a great day. The weather was cooler and we had a few raindrops.
I am not sure of plans for today. I am thinking church and then possibly grocery shopping.
QOTD- I think my favorite vacation was road tripping with my husband right after we were married. We drove from Washington state to Minnesota to visit his family. We camped and fished along the way. I loved it. Shortly after we came home, I found out I was pregnant with my daughter Madeline Grace.
Accountability- I ate corn on the cob and it was delicious!
Plan for today-
Black coffee with Miralax
1/2 c. cottage cheese and 2 eggs. ( love this breakfast it keeps me full)
not sure on lunch, I know my husband will probably will want a gyro in town
Something on the grill for dinner
Lots of water and vitamins always
Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday! It was a great day. I hung out with family- my girls, niece, and I got pedis and then we hung out at our house. My brother and his family came over and we grilled hamburgers and ate cake. I probably ate 500 more calories than my plan, but not too bad.
QOTD: My favorite trip was last summer when I took my kids to Auburn. It was wonderful showing my kids my alma mater. My grumpy older daughter even enjoyed the trip.
Tomorrow I go back to work. My 10 weeks of summer just flew by
Stats: 10 years out, 52 years old, goal- lose 10 pounds
Today's plan will be under 1500 calories, under 50 grams of sugar, 14,300 steps, at least 7 hours of sleep

Thanks, Karen! Yes, I am a high school math teacher. I enjoy it, but it is definitely hard work.
One more year after this one and I can retire. I will not be able to completely retire then, but I could retire from teaching and do something else.
