4 days post op
Hello all,
I'm 4 days PO today. I had a flawless, successful surgery on Tuesday revising from band to bypass.
I've had my good days and bad. Today didn't start out great but I'm hoping it will get better. Full liquid phase is killing me. Everything I'm allowed to have makes me nauseous just thinking about, even stuff I liked before surgery. Any creative ideas on full liquid stuff from people that have been through this is very much appreciated. I have 10 days left... I also slept through my daughter's hair appointment this morning so that sucks. I hope I can reschedule before school starts. DH took the kids out for a couple hours so I could take a shower and have some peace and quiet. Bless him!!! It's really hot today so I've only been pacing around the house even though water intake has not been an issue at all for me. I may venture out later with DH for a short walk down the road and back. My gas pains are pretty minimal today, I've even taken my wrap off for the past few hours with no issues.
Just a quick update, any advice welcome. I'm going to take a nap now and hopefully wake up in a better mood. :-).

My liquid only phase was 10 days of Gatorade. I'll never touch that again, lol.

I had lots of broth with unflavored whey protein added because I couldn't tolerate sweet for at least a week. Just the thought made me nauseous.

You will probably get very tired of sweet foods, if you're not already. And as you've noticed, your tastes can change a lot. In the "liquid" phase, I was allowed thin oatmeal/porridge. I ate it without any sweetener, and really appreciated the natural flavour. If you're not allowed that now, try it when you are allowed.
Also experiment with different temperatures. Some people tolerate hot liquids more easily, some find cold liquids easier to tolerate.
Hey Luna,
I was in the liquid phase a couple weeks ago and it lasted for seven days. Protein shakes were really tough for me, so I'd drink coconut milk or blended and strained soups. Those were my saving grace the last couple days when I got sick of drinking cold stuff.
