Pregnancy after RNY

I meet with my surgeon in a month for my one year follow up and ill ask him some questions too. But interested to find out from any of you what you pregnancy was like after having a RNY. What do you need to change in your diet? How did pregnancy change your weight. ECT.

I am not pregnant at this time, ive never had kids. We are hoping once we get the ok to start trying. I am 29 i had a TON of medical issues before the surgery with none of them being issues after the weight loss. I am worried about how pregnancy will change my body as most people gain weight when they are pregnant. But also worried about getting the right amount of nutrients to the baby.

No answers for you, but I'm in the same boat--hoping to start a family post-RNY (likely not til after next fall when we are hopefully in a larger house).

Ive always wanted a kid, but now I feel more at peace that if it never happens ill be ok. But now thinking about trying again gives me anxiety. What will happen with my weight, will my diabetes come back, will I even be able to conceive after ive lost all this weight.

Same here. With my weight and health issues beforehand, I had also come to the conclusion that my husband and I would be ok without kids and just embrace the "double income no kids" life. But losing weight and getting off diabetes meds has kind of sparked that hope back. We'd still be at peace if it doesn't happen, but I'm willing to give it a try when the time is right!

I'm 33, so I kind of feel like if it doesn't happen relatively quickly after I'm given the go-ahead, I still may give it up. I know I'm not "too old" but I also don't know if I want to be nearing retirement age when my kid(s) are in high school. But maybe. Who knows. Lol

I'm 33 and just had our first baby. It is totally not too late!! I'm three years post-op and losing the weight just improved everything in the process.

Congrats! I was wondering if you'd chime in ;) I'll be 34 when I'm in the "approved" post-op timeframe and hoping it happens for us soon after that. I know fertility skyrockets after weight loss. Crossing my fingers!

We've been slowly settling in and have had a few visitors so I'm just a bit behind on the boards :)

Obviously I can't speak for everyone but my fertility definitely improved post-op. I had a period tracker on my phone and have never been so regular in my life. Before surgery I could go 8 months without a period. That didn't bode well for getting pregnant.

We would love to have at least one more so obviously I will be even older then ;) lol. My goal is to stick closer to the bariatric clinic diet with the next one to keep my weight just a bit more in line with their goals. I think they recommended 15-20 pounds and I gained around 30.

I had asked a few question on there but no one has really talked. Or the ones I did talk to got pregnant right after surgery. I however have not looked at past posts
