What's on your menu today (Thursday) RNYers?

I had trouble sleeping last night. The hubby was snoring, the dog was skittish because of a thunderstorm and I was overtired so a sound sleep was just not in the cards. But I am up and thought I would start the menu thread.

Accountability: I did log everything I ate yesterday and I was just shy of 700 calories but I did increase my water intake by 30 ounces and the scale did move a pound. I think I'll just stay off the scale for the rest of the week.

QOTD: I have never been good at 'self-love' but since surgery, I am feeling better about myself. I am loving myself a whole lot more. I love shopping, doing my hair, accessorizing, and try to looking pretty. I get my hair and nails done on a regular basis and have even started going to the gym! (After having a gym membership for 6 months!) What do you do to show yourself self-love? How has wls changed you?

B: boiled egg and cantaloupe

S: PP chocolate shake

L: lettuce free cobb (using up the grilled chicken thighs)

S: Protein 2O

D: meatballs with zucchini noodles and sauce

902 calories and I am shooting for 100 ounces of fluid.

Have a great day everyone!

QOTD: Right now self love is doing what needs done. Very basic stuff like resting, getting my fluids, vitamins and protein, calories and being objective over "feelings", lol. Tough love. I look forward to being able to exercise again. It helps my anxiety incredibly but right now I have to use other coping skills. Tough love.

I am just starting week 3 so mine looks differently

530 - 2 T. plain, whole greek yogurt

6 ish - protein supplement/hydration- decaf coffee + Slimfast Advanced Nutrition ready to drink mixed in. The shake is 11 fluid ounces and probably about a 1:3 ratio of protein supplement shake to decaf as I get the kids ready for school. It is a nice way to "wake up the system" for the day and get some fluids in.

M1 - 1/2 cup total.

8 a.m 1 T plain, organic yogurt

815- 1 T. instant dry cream of wheat cooked in 1/4 c. whole milk, 1 oz. homemade applesauce, 1 T. sweet potato mashed to puree (all of this mixed together for a total of 1/2 c. eaten over the suggested time frame). The food program post bypass I am following schedules at least 3 "meals" supplemented by the protein shakes and water, gradually adding more real food and phasing out protein shakes eventually, over a period of time appropriate to the situation. My calories do not include the small meals because I have not really figured out the math for them (yet) but my focus is also nutrition so if anyone has suggestions I welcome them.

Made some hard boiled eggs in the Instant Pot. Lost track of time for pressure release so I hope they will puree with some sort of protein later ok. My kids will eat these as snacks too so I hope I made the right amount but not too many.

10:15 - second protein smoothie (Dymatize 100% whey, 1 cup plain yogurt, 4 oz. water (I got side tracked trying to take care of things around the house so added more water). 2 T. PB2, 1 T PB, 1/2 cup frozen blueberries, half frozen banana. I use a Blendtec to get to soupy consistency and take at least an hour to drink. I am hoping in time to condense to less fluid in the protein shake, more nutrients from solid food but right now I have to schedule these. I know it is better for me than something like Ensure.)

2nd multivitamin and calcium. On track to get iron supplement later this afternoon.

I have been getting about 1300+ calories a day and 100+ grams of protein plus the hydration so I am shooting to maintain that and hope that my weight loss will stop. I will be back to edit as I eat through the day to hold myself accountable to my tracking and goals.

Tonight is the meet the teacher for my special needs 3 year old. I have never had a child in school that young and we aren't sure how she will do. It is only 2 mornings a week but we realize it may be a difficult transition. I am thankful that I am healthy enough to attend, (as well as being healthy enough to take my other children to their first day of school earlier this week). So thankful.

Just anecdotal, but when I put my daughter (2 at the time now 3) in a special school for her developmental disability, she did just great! Usually the teachers and everyone are amazing at making sure the kids feel welcome and safe. I hope you and you're daughter get the amazing experience that we had and I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything goes well (but I'm sure it will)

I have tried eggs so many ways but with the Instant Pot the shells slide right off. There is an egg button but generally around 3 minutes at pressure (not counting the time getting up to pressure or pressure release). It is pretty hard to screw up BUT I googled it and youtubed it and still get nervous I will screw it up. Some people do 5 minutes. I really think anywhere from 3-5 minutes at pressure depending on how you like it. It makes cooking eggs much less stressful as far as peeling goes

Mornin' from Chicago!

I have my pre-op appoint at 10:30 this morning. I must admit, I'm starting to get a little nervous, but not whacked out yet! At least I have one more day of feeling normal, being able to run around, or whatever. Hopefully recovery will whiz by!

QOTD: hmmm...I can't really think of anything I do now that I didn't before in that respect - although I think I dress a little nicer (although part of that is probably due to the fact that it's easy to find clothes that fit now!!)

accountability was good yesterday. Calories in range.

B: at the hotel. Not sure what all they'll have, but at least they'll have Greek yogurt and fruit, so I'll probably go for that. And coffee with half & half.

MS: Miralax/protein shake

L: ?? Either lunch or dinner will be at a Middle Eastern place, though - so probably chicken kabobs

AS: ?? I have cheese sticks, turkey sticks, and L&F yogurt in the fridge in our room, so one of those

D: See lunch
