Mornin' All!

i'm sitting in a coffee shop with my brother. He's here to cat- and house-sit for us while we're in Chicago - we're leaving this afternoon! I'm still not nervous about my plastic surgery, surprisingly. I'm just REALLY wanting this excess abdominal skin GONE!!!

I went to an aqua fit class yesterday. I went Monday as well. I normally don't go two days in a row, but there's a sub there this week who's PHENOMENAL. She really kicks our butts! I sure wish she was the regular instructor. Although a couple of the elderly students left about halfway through - I think it was too intense for them. Anyway, at the end of the class, she said they're looking for a regular instructor for the Thursday class. She can't take it on a permanent basis because she has another job plus young kids. She said the gym would even be willing to pay for someone's training if they'd be interested in becoming certified. Hmmmm... So I emailed the director when I got home. I told her I have arthritis in my right hip, which is why most of my cardio is pool-based, so I'm not sure how jumping around on the pool deck would be. I wrote that I know some instructors, though, when it comes to higher impact moves, do 2 or 3 of them and tell the class to continue with them. I also said maybe I could "shadow" an instructor for a class or two, doing the routines on the pool deck rather than in the pool, just to see how my hip does. I also told her I'm having surgery on Friday and probably won't be cleared for exercise for four weeks or so, so I couldn't even start training before then - so if I do this, I wouldn't be ready to teach for probably two months. Well, within five minutes, I had a response. She wants to talk to me. Yikes - do I really want to do this? I kinda do - but then, I kinda like my freedom, too. But one class a week? I should be able to handle that. Hmmm..... Anyway, at least i have a lot of time to think about it, since I'll be out of commission for awhile. I noticed there's a training in Chicago in October - timing on that would be good...hmmmm...

accountability wasn't the greatest yesterday. Calories were about 300 over my range. Choices were OK, except for the piece of birthday cake. We went to a Chinese restaurant and I just had (non-fried) meat and veggies, no rice - but on top of going over on calories, I'm SUPER water-logged this morning - too much sodium! Hopefully it'll be gone by tomorrow...

3 years 2 months out:

B: plain Fage Greek yogurt with homemade blueberry sauce

MS: coffee with half & half

L: out with a friend to a curry place. I'm having the Thai salad. It's topped with grilled chicken that's been marinated in a Thai curry sauce - otherwise, it's just regular salad veggies with a mango vinaigrette. Very good and mostly safe.

AS: the Miralax/protein shake that I accidentally left in my fridge when I left the house

D: we may eat a small, early dinner before leaving on our trip, because it'll be too late when we get to the hotel in Chicago. Maybe just yogurt or maybe some peanut butter on celery sticks

ES: I'll likely have something small - like maybe some yogurt

Morning everyone! It is going to be a scorcher today. 98 freaking degrees. A friend and I are going to park ourselves at a lake this afternoon. I am so envious of those of you that have rain today.

QOTD: My favorite teacher was Sr. Mary Kay Lambert from high school. I had her for various English and Lit classes for all 4 years. She was a strong, smart woman and a blazing feminist. She pushed me hard and challenged me like no other teacher, and I loved her for it. She had a lot to do with who I am today.

3 years, 9 months post op:

B: Egg Beaters, bacon and mozzarella omelette

S: Light & Fit Yogurt

L: Brie bites, uncured salami

S: Goat cheese, salami

D: Country style pork ribs

Have a great day!

QOTD: My favorite teacher was in 6th grade, of course I've forgotten her name. But she made us write everyday, and it didn't matter what we wrote. We could say what ever we wanted and she did not censor us or reprimand us, just encouraged us. This started me on a life long love of writing. I have written a novel, I did it doing Nanowrimo not that I've done anything with it. Nanowrimo is amazing you complete a novel in a month. It happens in November, it is great for learning to turn off your internal censor and just write. You have to do 50,000 words in 30 days. A group of us from my Novel Writing class did this. I also have multiple journals. One is just for quotes that I find amazing from any book I happen to be reading.

Accountability- I was a little off yesterday ended up at 1197 calories, 82 protein, 104 carbs, 17 fat. Made my protein but too many carbs. I almost gave in to some Gummy Bears that were calling my name last night, but I didn't. Back on track today.

Treadmill in the AM. Too dark to walk outside and it will be too hot after work, supposed to be 100 today. Maybe it will cool down to the low 80's on Friday or so the weather guessers say.

I LOVE bread it is one of my weaknesses, I get a loaf of french bread and slice it up and freeze it so I only have a slice every once in a while. Can't totally give it up, but I definitely don't indulge very often.

Late post for me this morning, but mostly because I've been wasting time talking to co-workers. Birthday spin last night was fun, although one of my co-workers will never have another child! The spin studio uses cycling shoes with clips and my poor friend came unclipped and landed on the emergency brake not once, not twice, but three times. I told him to apologize to his wife for me.

QOTD: Mrs. Cohen. My 8th grade geometry teacher. I was never strong in math, but she spent the extra time I needed to make sure I understood and thrived in the class.

My plan:

B: 2 eggs, .5 oz of cheese

L: leftover fajita meat

D: I think tuna

S: Latte and likely a yogurt before the gym

Here's a picture from last night's ride.

Upper left: candle time

Upper right: me and one of my favorite instructors who showed up to take class with me

Lower right: Me and the owner/instructor

Lower left: Me and my hair stylist (aka "the hair whisperer")

(edited to change break to brake because I do know how to spell.)
