Time to change my thinking

I've had a few NSVs lately, but today had a couple of big ones. I was almost bed bound (pre-surgery) and my balance is still off. So I engaged a personal trainer who specializes in core and balance training. She works with a lot of older folks, but trains all levels. She's been really good for me over the last two months. Today she had me doing stuff, where my first reaction when she showed me what to do was - $#%^& #$%. I was doing stuff on one leg, and I had the biggest smile. Then at the gym there is this area where they do boot camp. My trainer was down there teaching a class, so decided to join her there - knowing full well she would train me in that area. She did. The last thing she asked me to do was put one foot high on a step and pull myself up on this trapeze looking support. I seriously didn't think I could flex my leg enough to even put my foot on the step. But I executed the pull up perfectly. Then she was whispering in my ear on the 12th pull up (all of a sudden in my ear - "you got this - you aren't 500 pounds anymore. Stop thinking like a 500 pound guy." Today was pretty cool. Now I gotta punch under 190 and get under 185. I got my mind right!! (yes, from Cool Hand Luke)

Changing the way we see ourselves is a difficult thing and doesn't necessarily correlate to the number on the scale. Way to go! Keep challenging yourself!
