Anyone else with food allergies?
I am allergic to dairy and soy. But if I don't eat that often now. For 1-2 years after I was diagnosed with a severe soy allergies and dairy, I completely avoided the dairy and anything with soy (that was really challenging). when I was diagnosed initially - i was told that my soy allergy was severe enough that it might caused life threatening shock.
When I person avoids food that they are allergic to, the body often stopped producing antibody to that substance. The allergy may still be there but the reaction may be very mild, if any when the allergen is introduced again.
After 2 years of complete avoidance (including butter and soy oils) now I can tolerate some soy in products -i.e soy sauce, soy oil, and soy lecithin. Same with dairy. I still get severe reaction- almost instant to things with whey, but aged cheese - I can tolerate rather well a couple of times a week.
I am still mindful about soy - specially soy proteins, but I can now go to any Asian restaurant and I don't get immediate reaction. Before that -even breathing the air in Asian food places would cause my body to itch, and my eyes and nose running, etc.
But I still get reaction to foods that have soy proteins added.
As for eggs - I can have up to 3 eggs - but only every other day at best.
Just be mindful of what they add to different products.
Good luck.
