Wondering if any have experienced these symptoms

I had WLS in 2007, have achieved and maintained goal weight with a few ups and downs that were easy to get back in control of. But I'm wondering if any have experienced symptoms similar to what im dealing with: very random abdominal pains, feels like everything from my rib cage to my groin is inflamed, with sharper/stabbing pains up high under my left rib felt in front and in my back, another sharper pain down low on th he right near the groin/hip bone area. Very intense pain that lasts about 3 - 4 days or so. Only experienced this since having WLS surgery. Used to be 2 or 3 times a year randomly, gradually increased to 2 or 3 times a month if not more. I've been to the ER twice for it and had CT scans done each time which showed nothing. Had gallbladder removed during one of those ER visits because there was sludge in GB and that's the only thing that they could attribute the pain to. I've been back to my WL surgeon twice and had an EGD and he said everything is fine with the work that he did - meaning pouch still looks great.

So, now I'm scheduled to see a GI doctor because something is definitely not right. I thought I'd reach out to you folks to set if anyone might have some insight, thoughts, or ideas about what could possibly be wrong. Like I said, 2 CT scans and 3 EGD have shown absolutely nothing. But the pain is so intense!!! I have no problem with constipation or diarrhea, its not related to anything I may have eaten. I've ruled everything out and I am at a loss ? Thanks in advance for any insight or words of wisdom! It's very much appreciated!

Glad you are seeing experts to find help. You could question intussusception which is one of those conditions, while rare, that seems to be more prevalent among we of the altered guts.

Let us know if they find anything. It's always good for us to know what we should be aware of!

Thank you... I'll post any updates for sure just in case others might have some suffering.

it could be adhesions ,scar tissue that typically doesn't show up on scans or egd s. It could be ulcers in your remnant stomach, which can't be scoped.

Oh my goodness I get the same thing but only on my right side. The pain started on Friday and lasted till Monday night. I found it was hard to take a deep breath when the pain was very sharp and stabbing at times. Saw my dr and he is going to send me for an ultrasound. So hopefully we can figure it out. I find that Tylenol only makes the pain bearable but does not get rid of it. Glad I am not alone with this.

Yes, breathing hurts... adds more pressure to an already painful area. Ibuprofen helps somewhat as well. I'll be interested in hearing your updates and I'll share mine. My appt with GI doctor isn't for 2 weeks ð??-

You may want to let your bariatric surgeon and GI doctor know you're taking Ibuprofen, which is an NSAID and is contraindicated for RNY patients. It could cause gastritis and ulcers.

Will do! I typically avoid anything with NSAID but discovered it by accident while on vacation and wa**** with a flare up. My daughter only had ibuprofen so I took it. This was just in April of this year so I haven't taken it often but I'll be sure to let them know just in case!

A few years back I had a stone in the common bile duct that left me writhing on the floor. It cleared itself eventually. This was weeks AFTER I had my gall bladder out, a rogue stone I was told...

Then a few years back again I had atypical appendicitis (my appendix wasn't where it was supposed to be). Long story short it ruptured and I was in the hospital for a week. I had pain in the opposite places I should have.

Both times I attributed the pain to "just some RNY thing". Both times I could have died if things had gone differently. Have them do a rectal CT (the only way they found my appendix), ex-lap, whatever it takes to figure it out.

I've got IBS-C. Most likely made worse by SIBO. some foods make my guts really painful and very inflamed.

Too much fiber, wrong fiber, or sugars, any SA, etc etc.

Corn - o boy., a couple of handfuls and I am in severe pain for hours, then sensitivity for days.

google SIBO... not fun. Flares up, then I may be fine for weeks or months, and it gets unhappy again.
