Regain
I've been on a keto/low carb WOE and have lost 46lbs this year. The first week was a bear, but then my appetite subsided and it's honestly been a breeze since.
Juse an FYI, for those who balk at keto, I've never eaten a fat bomb or had bulletproof coffee, nor do I eat bacon more than once a week. I eat vegetables or salad at every meal and am strong, fit and healthy.
I don't eat bread, pasta, rice or potatoes or any form of franken/processed food.
Keeping eating simple is the key for me and I also log every bite and every step EVERY day!
Good luck, losing regain is never a quick fix, but if I can do it at 55 years old and 14 years out from surgery, anyone can!!!

I am glad you have found the combo that works for you..
What is so amazing about this WLS tool is there are so many different body responses to similar and dissimilar surgeries. Having this board to share our tips and what works for each of us, helps everyone. Each person must find/know their diet triggers and keep their plan flexible enough for the lifestyle they enjoy...so that doing their schedule does not become a burden, but a joy.
I am on a high protein, low carb as well and have been for 24 years ( before my surgery by 6 months...) I eat bacon 2-3 times some weeks, and none other weeks, I do remove most visible fat ends even before i cook it for the entire family. I also de-fat my sausage because of my tolerance . (I can not process fats/part of my surgery). y protein goal is 90 min. and max of 50 grams carbs.. several days of the week i try for a boost of 15 grams of protein and a drop of 20 grams of carbs...
I do eat regular white rice, pasta and potato regularly, but within STRICT limits. When my chronic gastritis kicks in.. rice and ice water are my staple diet for 1-2 days.
I also avoid mixes, processed foods, and msg in all forms,... generally..I usually eat a lot of eggs -they are my easiest protein to get in...without fail. There is a long list of veggies I do not tolerate well, can't digest... I add digestive enzymes for some of these and must tightly limit the amounts of veggies because of intolerance issues.
logging every activity is great for those that will/can. I mow the grass w/ push mower, carry food and water to my chickens , pull greens grass /salads for them. I Haul , hand load and unload sawdust/wood chips and garden. After being physically restricted for a while, I am once again adding exercise and activity to my tolerance.
i did do a logging activity of food and exercise, just after my surgery ,for the first several months and do a daily once in a while to assess where I am , but daily is not happening for me... That alone would drive me bonkers!
I am 4 years ahead of you in age and 23 years post op... So Yes! If we can do it , anyone can!
Hi! Same. I have a good 27 lbs or so I'd like to lose yet. I'm back on track, but it's taken me a MONTH of hard work to lose and keep off (fingers crossed!) 3 lbs. Going back to basic rules of WLS helped, coming here and seeing how/what everyone eats and does with food and exercise is helpful and motivating, tracking religiously on MFPal app again is helping, especially with all of the macro/nutrient/calorie tools to try to reach goal on everyday. And cooking low carb again is helping. I feel better upping my protein again and making small changes-- they're turning into larger ones as I go. It was so easy for me to take my WLS for granted and not think it would still be serious work to stay thin, which I'm paying for! good luck!
I'm new and only8 months out of surgery so my opinion may not help but in support they always talk about drinking the liquids and making sure you stop drinking a half hour before a meal and 45-60 min after a meal. They say it is very important. If you have slacked on that you may want to add it back to your routine. Good luck.

Proudmama13,
for the menu thread just look to the right in the box...
Don't feel like the lone ranger.
The staying on track and getting off track thing is a constant... the best thing about having a surgery that works is you have the tools to get a handle on it sooner rather than later.
I had a WLS 23 years ago, that surgery I had has been broken up, parts of it are no longer done and part of it is the RNY, bt is done by scope now.I also had other inesinal modifications done..at the same time...It took me about 18-20 monhs to get my weight to my goal and i hoovered there for several years, while doing a physically demanding job. When that job ended, I changed weight by 10 lbs or so.. another change, more stress anoher 10 lbs. About 3 years ago, after many stresses I could not control or delegate took their toll and I realized i had picked up 45 lb. I have been working on that for these past 3 years, slowly whittling away. am now down to about 15 more to go... The stress was relieved and I lost 15 lbs quickly, the rest has been harder. I have increased my activity, and re building my strength.. I rarely have any desert or any fruit, and try to keep my carbs below 50 consistently and @ 20 ,several days of the week, unless doing heavy exertion ..and need for my blood sugar control.( heavy work drops my blood sugars severely and quickly)
Just go back to your rules. replace your bad habits with good ones. Do not leave the space open, it will be filled by something....ie..If you have been having a carb snack at night, replace it with a protein one. ..etc... increase your protein, count your carbs and keep them low, and count your protein and keep them to your high end of MD's recommendations. get your fluids in, mostly filtered water... If you prefer flavor in your water try a slice of lemon or orange squeezed in .
It is coming out in some news venues that artificial sweetners can increase cravings. I use stevia a natural leaf, pyure brand is the powdered form....it is the best tasting one for me, and is prcessed without chemicals.
Consider making a menu, Maybe one for each day of the week, that you have pre figured the proteins and carbs... and kinda lock it in for a week... then do a different one for next week. at some point the work would be done and you would have several safe menu's in your preferences .I do high protein meals for our entree and jus change up my veggie, and bread/or lack there-of so even easy if you are preparing for a family.
Hope these help. you are not alone...
