I got my surgery Date!

Exciting news for me last week. I received insurance approval and will have RNY on August 29th. It still seems far away, but I am sure that time will pass quickly as the date gets closer.

That's exciting...and you are right, it will go fast!

Congratulations! I encourage you not to wait until after surgery to make life changes. The surgery is only on your stomach but won't fix your habits and ways of coping.

Yay! Wonderful news! Does your surgeon require you to do a pre-op diet to shrink your liver?

Yes, I will be on the liquid diet for one week prior to surgery. The approval and pre-op process has taken almost a year. I lost track of how many doctor's appointments, studies, tests, and nutritional visits etc. I had been to somewhere in the mid 20's. But the process has given me a chance to get into better habits, lose some weight and get healthier going into the surgery.

There are a lot of role models on the RNY board in terms of consistent eating, exercise and treating others with respect. I enjoy reading it each day.

CONGRATS!!!! Very excited, for you!!

That's great but ask about getting on a fiber regime pre surgery I was not and I think it would have helped a lot if I started before surgery. Just a suggestion.
