What's on your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
Just curious about what you do at the gym. Do you just do strength things or a mixture? I've been doing an hour of strength training twice a week with the trainer and I'm trying to decide what ratio of strength vs. cardio I should be doing and how long.

I don't really have any answers. When I started lifting I gained about 8 pounds (from april timeframe till now). I will have another dexa in december or november to check my progress. not happy about the pounds but I am happy about how my body has changed composition wise which is why the weight lifting is so important.
depends really what your goal is. I wanted to be super strong which meant I needed to accept I was going to weigh more while I was building muscle. now it is starting to lean out which is great and actually starting to see abs and definition
I workout 4-5 times a week- I do a 10-20 warmup on elliptical or bike, left weights, then another 10 min on one of the machines. I don't really like cardio much. I either do arms or legs or whole body movements. The reason I added the cardio was because of the weight gain. dexa guy said to counteract the gain to increase cardio.
Thanks for the input Hillary. I really love to get out and walk or to swim and the thought of only doing it a couple of days a week sounds horrible to me. I love the peace of that hour. I shot an email to my trainer and talked to another colleague who is a trainer and they both suggested not doing cardio (at least more than a warmup) more than 3-4 days a week and lifting 3. I will have to adjust to that, but it should help to strengthen my body. I have another Dexa scheduled at the end of September and I am curious how that will change.

I've enjoyed the new challenge to my body, to see what I do and push myself.
