How long does hair loss last
Hi all. Had gastric bypass 1/23 and have lost 44 lbs. I weighed 206. I can't get my ticket to work lol.
I have had thinning hair for many years and it was noticable. Well fast forward to 6/23ish and I have now lost so much hair it barely covers my scalp.
It's gone from the top, back and sides
I get 80 g of protein a day and take all vitamins. I take 10000 mcg a day of biotin and use rogaine.
So it has been coming out steadily since 6/23. Does anyone have any idea approximately how long this continues? I know it will stop when all the telegon hairs fall out but I wondered how long it lasted for you.
Thanks!

Hi there
I started losing hair at month 3 and at about month 5 or 6 it stopped. My doctor warned me it would happen because of anesthesia, surgery and the changes in my body. It is getting better. Hope yours does too!

I'm assuming it's one of those "different for everyone" situations. I'm 5 months out and have been losing since 3 months out. I think it's slowing down, and my hairstylist says she sees new growth so...just rockin a short, layered cut (and sometimes a combover****il then :P my hair was also very thin to start with and I have some bare spots along my part, and you can definitely see my scalp with certain hairstyles, so I was advised to change up my part frequently, as "frequently exposed" hair will fall out worse.

I'm noticing mine is getting thinner now and I'm almost 5 months, I'm hoping it will slow or stop soon.
You have to change your current weight in the "health tracker" to make the ticker work.

I started to lose mine (in handfuls in the shower) in month 4 and it lasted to month 8. Not until I was about 18 months post op did I notice my hair was "back to normal. But at month 18 I found out I had an iron ferritin of 4 and my hair was thin, brittle, and it stopped growing and was coming out again. Once I started to get iron infusions my hair came back thick, strong, shiny and wonderful. I keep my ferritin at 100 +.
Biotin won't help at all, that is a waste of your money. Your hair will grow back when its good & ready to grow back. To find out what your ferritin is at, it might have been low pre surgery and now its even lower. Also with the rogaine, I would wait until you are back in the hair growing stage before you spend your money on that, if you are still losing hair you are just wasting your money.

I had RNY 10 years ago. My hair loss started around the third month and lasted for about three months. I have really short hair and wasn't happy with the way it looked so I bought a couple of wigs and wore those for three months.
Biotin is worthless.
