And again you are WRONG.

Norma is more than 2 yrs post surgery.

And no Michelle TWH said a ferritin of 4 was fine. I went outside of TWH and got help and iron infusions, TWH was not prepared to help me at all, in fact they put my health in complete danger.

No one should accept a ferritin of below 50 for a post bariatric patient (50 for post menopausal) and 100 for a someone menstruating still. The ranges are bull **** and ridiculous. Most of the "ranges" for labs for those of us who are post gastric bypass are not sufficient. You WILL discover this when you are years post op.

Please explain to me how my post was SCARY? How did you interpret it as I was scaring her? That is ridiculous. How nice of you to think me spending all that time writing out that post to her and giving her ADVICE was scary. That's Bull****

And next time you post really read the OP's post and look at when they had surgery before you respond.

Daisydoo,

Could you please tell me what your symptoms are when your ferritin is low?

Thanks,

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,

Good question and the symptoms are horrible not something I would wish on anyone, some symptoms are:

  • extreme fatigue
  • dizziness, lightheadedness
  • headaches
  • weakness
  • ringing in your ears
  • irritabilty
  • leg pains or tingling in your legs
  • shortness of breath
  • pale skin
  • bruising
  • cold hands & feet
  • fast or irregular heartbeat
  • brittle nails

Hope this helps. Like I said to the OP (original poster) after what I have been through and what I have read here on OH from the Vets you need a ferritin of at least 50 (if you are post menopausal) and a ferritin level of 80-120 if you are menstruating.

As for all of of those symptoms above, I had then all. The fatigue, weakness, shortness of breath, pale skin, cold hands & feet, brittle nails and irregular heartbeat were my most obvious symptoms, I felt like death.

Good luck!!

In addition to those symptoms, my anxiety gets worse when my ferritin tanks.
