What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
I'm not the expert, but from what DW was saying neither the Surface nor the Mac may work well with a spreadsheet in Excel. That is something that the formatting needs to be particularly good, and the Surface may not have the functionality for it and the Mac would change the formatting when you share the document with a non-Mac user. You may want to talk to the IT folks for the district or at Best Buy, etc. and find out what they would suggest. Sorry, but I'd hate for you to struggle more if you don't have the equipment that works well with your project.
Edited to add: Just whatever you do, don't buy a Dell because their quality and reliability has really gone down.

Excel is a little different, but not so much that you can't get used to it (IMO).

Happy Friday Eve!
My hubster works 4 ten hour days in the summer so today is his Friday which means we will be leaving for camping this weekend when he gets home. Today I am taking my MIL to the doctor for her two-week follow up from her sleeve surgery. She seems to be doing well, although she has a huge bruise on her belly. After I get home from that I will get our things ready for the weekend. On a side note, the head custodian sent me a text to tell me my room was ready and I could come in and set up my classroom. But that will wait until a rainy day.
QOTD: I have a Dell (It's work issued). I don't love it and I don't hate it. I had a MacBook Pro for a long time and I loved it but I am learning to like the Dell.
B: Premier Protein shake
L: turkey, cheese, bacon, and tomato on a romaine lettuce leaf with a dab of mayo
D: cobb salad (made by me after we get to camp)
Have a great and safe weekend! See ya'll on Monday.

JB - I am a Mac user in a PC environment. You can get Microsoft suite for Mac, it acts a little different but it?s closw enough for success. I run into problems with non-core software apps however as those usually require some level of customization for each environment and they don?t always think about Mac unless your IT actively supports it! An example of some of the challenges - our data analytics package gives a one step download option for excel but it?s a 3 step process when your using excel for Mac. Also, outlook for Mac just doesn?t have the same functionality as outlook does (schedule emails, voting buttons, etc). We have some people that self selected to the Surface as well and they are having similar types of challenges ? and we don?t have critical mass with users yer so many have/are talking about switching back. At least once a month I think how much easier it would be to switch to the core system in our environment...but I?ve been thinking that since 2009 and haven?t been able to make the switch yet, lol

Thanks! We use a google platform for email and meetings so outlook is not an issue. And luckily our IT guy moonlights as an Apple Genius, so I know he can support me :) I am mostly worried about functionality of Excel... It would really suck to lose drop down menus and formulas.
