Good morning Friends! I am feeling really pumped this morning! I am finally done with training (well, until Monday, lol) so I get two days in a row to go back into school and get some **** done! I have a ginormous list and I am so ready to tackle it. It's also going to be a gorgeous day so I am hoping to get out for a nice walk at some point, too. The Blue Hills Reservations are on my way home, so I might stop for a hike.

Accountability: I went out for an impromptu dinner with the girls last night whi*****luded TACOS (yaaaaaaaaay) and about 1/4 of a margarita. I had the insides of about 3/4 each of a chicken taco and a fish taco. Delicious and high protein :)

QOTD: Tell me about your laptop. What do you love about it? I have a MacBook Air that I adore. But I hate my work laptop and I am going to buy my own to replace it. The only limitation is that it needs to be Microsoft compatible so that I can work seamlessly with the platform that everyone else is on...Anyway, I got a Surface Pro which is still sitting in the box, because I think I might just go buy another MacBook Air and figure out how to get Office on it? I can't decide.

Good morning all!

JB, glad that you are excited about jumping into the heap of work. Hope that it is a productive day. Regarding the Surface, DW has had 2 because they were Microsoft compatible and because they are light, but she hates it. I'll have to ask her why because I don't remember, but she has completely sworn off of it and is back to using her old laptop.

Had a nice walk yesterday at lunch down to the WWII memorial (4.7 miles). It wasn't too hot but I was definitely sweaty when I got back to the office. It's still summer! I hope to do another long walk today at lunch because it isn't calling for rain again.

I've been struggling with feeling really down still related to not getting the job. I had a meeting with the division chief who was on the panel and he talked but told me NOTHING! Just that I had a good interview and to stay positive. ****** me off! I did find out through the grapevine that they either had someone else in mind for the position or that they had no intention of hiring anyone from my division, so I had no chance of getting the job.... Makes me mad though that I was asked to apply for the job anyway to make it "look" fair. Just trying to get through it and keep myself sane.

QOTD: I have 3 laptops and a tablet. One laptop is a piece of crap Dell that is dedicated for work. It has stuck keys and a mind of its own! My home laptop is a 17" HP. I like it fairly well. I also have a 13" Yogi that I use when I travel or am working in bed. It is great except that the keyboard has the Shift key in a different place so typing can be a mess! On Prime Day I got a new Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8" because my 7" Tab E wasn't responding and the battery was draining fast. I don't even have the new one all configured yet but it definitely is more responsive and has 32GB!

Menu: I am considering having a CAMAW day because the structure seems to help when I am not in the mood.

Years ago, I made such a stink about positions being opened with a candidate identified but people not knowing, that they actually had to change the process! Now they post with candidate identified in the title -- people can still choose to interview, for the practice or because they think they can win the job (and that has happened) but at least they know it's an uphill fight from the jump!

I can understand struggling with the way the interview/follow up process has been. It's hard to move forward when there wasn't an answer given and especially if there wasn't a chance. Hang in there.

It's too bad you were encouraged and are now made to feel you never stood a chance. He should have been more honest, you deserved that.

It's that I decided after lots of thought to take the risk and then to find out that it was all politics. It's part of the reason I've just stayed stuck in the same position for 16 years. At least I know that I can do this job well.

good to know about the 8" Samsung Galaxy - that's one I've been considering.

yea - I like Lenovo Yoga's but hate the position of the right shift key on the newer ones - I'm a touch typist, and it's really difficult. I keep pressing "Enter" instead of "shift" - ugh!!

it's hard to say why you weren't hired. I've been in that position as well - an internal candidate who didn't get the job (this was on a previous job I had like 20 years ago). I think places often have people in mind but still have to go through the motions. And sometimes, they just want "new blood". I think that's what happened to me - someone from the outside ended up being hired. I remember being bitter for quite awhile about it, though. Your reaction is pretty normal.
