Morning RNY'ers! My run is done- so is a little more yard work. I'm proud of the work hubby and I have put into the outside of the house- it's looks cozy. He made a new sign house # sign (below) that I love. My neighbors probably think we are prepping to sell.

No plans today- but that could mean I do nothing or find some adventure.

. Qotd: so, I just found my out work is giving us raises-- retroactive a whole year. That should be a nice sum to go on a decent vacation. Not sure if the $$ will come through before summer is over- if not we'll likely do a Christmas vacation.

Good morning~ I had such a great day yesterday hiking with hubby. It was gorgeous! Today we are taking the dogs and hiking a new trail again but this one is only about 2 miles relatively flat - which will be nice because yesterdays hike kicked my a$$ it was SO steep! After will be World Cup, cleaning, laundry and getting ready for the week then more Poldark and we'll BBQ for dinner.

QOTD - I have a hiking bucket list. There are soooo many beautiful trails in my area and I'm trying to get to as many as I can. I am visiting my son for his birthday in August and we are going to the San Diego Zoo. In Sept we are going to Disneyland for my 50th and to Palm Springs for a work trip.

Accountability -I had a ****tail (vodka, soda and lime) w/lunch. I was too tired for dinner (unless you count the 6 popsicles) and went to bed super early - it was still very light out!

19mo post op - 160.5 - down .6 - yay

b- coffee x3, eggs

l-tuna w/soy and wasabi

d-BBQ chicken

s-popsicles

v/l on track

Have a great day!!

Good morning all! Today we are going to the farmers market since it's not too hot here yet and we both enjoy getting the walking in while looking at the goods. Then afterward I'm going to try my hand at pressure canning. I ordered a pressure canner a couple of weeks ago. I've water bath canned for a long time (salsas, tomatoes, jams, pickles) but this year I have a mighty abundance of green beans, and my Ball canning book has a method for canning kale also, and I normally eat it boiled and salted, so figure I'd give it a try! I have PLENTY of kale also.

Qotd: not much is left on my summer bucket list except this new canning and preserving adventure :)

breakfast: coffee and Premier and I also finished a lonely chicken thigh that was hanging out in my fridge

lunch: unknown. We may be out and about at that time

dinner: meatballs with sauce and cheese and a lot of fresh basil. I also have a mighty abundance of that, and can't can it :P

My 3rd batch of green beans is in the pressure cooker right now. Normally my MIL does the canning if I pick, clean and snap all of the beans, but she just got out of the hospital yesterday and my hubster and I had a quick lesson and have been canning all day! Good luck on your pressure cooker adventure. So far, so good for us.

It went well and I have 16 pints of green beans cooling on the counter! I ran the canner with jus****er in it just to walk through how it works and what the valves will and should do. I didn't do any kale today, but I think I might tomorrow, and I'll have some sweet pickles coming too. It's so fun!

It did me for a while too, but I did a lot of research on safe canning guidelines, made sure I knew how to use the canner before I tried it on real food, etc. I have two recipe books that are full of recipes that have been tested safe for home canning :)

Mornin' Weekenders!

yesterday I went to Aqua Zumba at 7:45, then coffee with DH, and then bummed around most of the rest of the day with my friend from Turkey (she's here for two weeks - work-related). Today there's coffee with DH, hair appointment at 1:30, then off to see my Turkish friend again. I'm taking her to a yoga class at 5:30, not sure what else we'll end up doing. SOOOOOO glad I don't have to go back to work tomorrow!! No Sunday night blues!! YIPPEE!!!

QOTD: this week and the first part of next I need to finish up all this stuff I have to do for our revocable trust (finish moving assets into it that I'm responsible for (lawyer is doing the more complicated ones, like the house), also, reading through it word for word to make sure it's set up exactly like we want it to (we have 45 days to do this - after that, we have to pay for changes). The thing is *enormous*, I might add - and probably contains a lot of legalese to boot. So this will take awhile. I also need to finish updating the Web site for an organization I chair, because I'm probably going to be in no mood to do that after I have plastic surgery. So those two things will easily suck up most of my time for the next week to 10 days. After that - Thurs, July 26 I'm taking my Turkish friend to the airport in Chicago (she flies back to Turkey that evening), then I'll spend the night there (in the Chicago area) and attend a memorial service the next morning (my dad's cousin). Then, if things work out, I'll leave there for Ohio for a few days. I have a high school friend who was recently diagnosed with brain cancer, so I'd like to see her as long as she's up to it. If she's not, then I'll head back home to Wisconsin next weekend after the service.

then I have plastic surgery on Aug 10. My brother is coming (from NC) to house/cat sit for us while we're gone. He's coming on the 7th, DH and I are leaving for Chicago the evening of Aug 8 because I have a pre-op appt the following morning. Then surgery. I'll be in the hospital a night or two, then we'll move to a hotel in the Chicago area for another couple of nights - then back home to recuperate. I'm expecting to be out of commission for 2-3 weeks.

SO...there's my summer.

3 years out:

B: homemade Greek yogurt, 1/2 fresh mango

MS: coffee with half & half, Miralax/protein peach lassi (actually, one of those Orange Julius-type things that NYMom makes...with plain kefir, vanilla extract, and peach protein powder)

L: not sure - maybe a salad with some protein

D: if we're home, then probably leftover Korean food (pork & veggies). Otherwise, something safe!
