We made it to Friday-Lite! Does anyone else have this problem? I was at Target the other night trying to choose TP and realized this is the practical math application we should be teaching our kids at school!

Well, I endured three full days of trainings and my brain is full. It was good but also exhausting and today I am eager to get to the school and get a few things started. To start with, I need to set up my office! I need to drive in to bring a million things with me, but we are also going to a Red Sox game tonight so I need to take the train. I literally cannot decide what to do, and I need to leave in less than an hour. Oof.

QOTD: Ok so yesterday we chose a charity to spend a million dollars on. Today we get to spend it on ourselves (no, not to give away to your family--just you)! What things would you buy for yourself with a million dollars? I think I would like to spend 90% on traveling all over the world for a year. Also, I have some big plans to add some features to the back yard, so a lot of money would certainly help that go faster! And continuing my theme of fixing falling down schools, I'd also like to spend a lot of money on some upgrades to my office. I literally only have a table to work at, not even a proper desk with drawers!

I am not going to bother posting a menu. I just don't know... I have a coffee date at 11am with a colleague, a lunch date at 2pm with another colleague, and dinner at the Red Sox game. As always, I will try to stay protein forward, but it's all a guess at this point in my day!

Morning all. JB, I hope your day works out well and have fun at the game.

I am feeling really down right now. I got a one line email yesterday afternoon that another candidate was chosen for the supervisory position that I had applied for. I am frankly shocked and angry. I believed that I was a good candidate, the interview went great and I thought that I had a very good chance of getting it since I have alot more experience than any of the other candidates. I texted and emailed a couple of my colleagues who had encouraged me to apply and everyone else is as baffled as I am. This is a real disappointment and it will take some time to get over it. I admit that I had a slice of sweet potato pie to drown my sadness. It was very yummy and I hadn't been able to eat any dinner, but trying to heal a hurt with food just isn't a healthy choice. I know that, but it happened. I will try to do a day or two of CAMAW to readjust my habits and thinking. It is way too easy to revert to old ways of thinking when life isn't perfect.

QOTD: I know that I would buy some land and build a handicapped accessible house for DW since her fibro and other chronic illnesses will make it harder and harder for her to manage in our Cape Cod. I would probably also pay off the rest of my student loans and put more $$ in my retirement fund. I would love to travel but not sure where I would go.

Menu: going to plan on a CAMAW day

B1: vanilla Premier Protein shake, coffee

B2: hard boiled egg, ham

Snack: Lemonade protein shake, salmon packet

Lunch: chicken breast

Snack: turkey breast, string cheese

Dinner: steamed shrimp

Snack: chomps

Exercise: I'd like to hit the pool for some laps

Ugh, I'm sorry you didn't get the position! It can be so frustrating when you are overlooked like that. Do you know the hiring manager well enough to set up a follow up meeting (in a few weeks) to get their opinion on what skills you need to be able to demonstrate to be considered the next time? I do those, when asked, with internals that aren't selected for a role -- it can be awkward but also can help for the future.

As a gov't employee it can be hard to know where in the process the problem occurred. I'd like to talk to our division chief, who was on the interview panel and actually was the one who asked me to apply in the first place, but it may have been out of his hands.

Oh, that's a whole different element! I have heard that the government process is complex!

Completely different from hiring in the private sector. It is all on a point system that is supposed to be fair, but can be completely off base and come up with different results in HR than in the department doing the hiring. I have a hard time believing that my chief would encourage and help me to apply for a position and then not hire me, but HR can be very fickle.

Thanks. It's hard to see that right now, but could be.

Good Morning,

Yesterday afternoon my cousin Melissa called to vent, scream, yell and cry over Betsy. (My cousin who passed away on Saturday night.) We went on and on for 45 minutes straight. I hope I was a help. I only listened to her because I don't have any experience with losing a sibling.

QOTD: That's a lot of money to spend! Definitely share with family, buy a new Class A RV with all the bells and whistles my husband wants and travel.

B: Chocolate Premier shake

L: chicken salad with 2 mini naan bread

D: not sure yet, another family dinner tonight

Lots of water and Crystal Light

Have a great day!
