Morning!

A:I ended up eating a little less than I had planned, actually. And I did have some avocado mashed in with my tuna as it was a little dry.

Menu:

1.premier w coffee (and a cup of almond milk)

2. I bought some AH-mazing squeaky cheese curds from a local farm. They're ranch flavored and so good.

3. Deli chicken and cheese.

4.Whatever the meat is my mom is making for the family.

5. Yogurt

Good morning, everyone!

JB - Congratulations on your first day back! I can't wait until enough time has passed so we can hear about your "interesting" day.

Today is kind of normal - just plodding along through a weird week with a holiday in the middle of it. We're planning to cook out and have another family over tomorrow so our kids can play outside and hopefully exhaust themselves. I've been racking my brain and none of the typical cookout sides seem to fit what I can have right now (soft foods, protein first), so I'll probably have a protein shake shortly before the meal and then just a nibble from one of the ribs to feel like I'm getting to participate.

Here's the meal plan for today:

QOTD: I need to ponder this one a bit. I'll try to come back to it later.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning and happy Independence Day Eve (to the Americans). Last night DH and I constructed a couple of Roman Candle machine guns mounted on spinning drill bits. I will likely record the lighting of them and put on YouTube for posterity. We are going to his parents house tonight for a cookout and to see the town fireworks where they live.

due to the financial market being closed, I'm working 8-2 today instead of my normal 6:30-3, and I set my alarm for PM on accident, slept in, and ran out the door without packing my normal foods.

QotD: so many books have impacted me and made me contemplate life. Most of them are books for younger readers. I remember reading The Giver by Lois Lowry. It was my very first dystopian story and I must have been in middle school. I just remember thinking...what if we did live in a society that took away everything that made us unique?? It just really made me question the What Ifs if we took society's current problems to extremes. Another book that touched me deeply was The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. The movie is good, but doesn't hold a candle to how utterly touching this book is.

breakfast: I forgot to bring my Premier to work so I'm all akimbo today. I have a Greek L&F in the fridge still

lunch: I might order an Unwich from jimmy Johns. Not a lot of good options around my office building.

dinner: bunless burger (or whatever meat my FIL is putting on the grill tonight)

The Book Thief was amazing! I haven't seen the movie I'm usually disappointed by books that are made into movies.

The movie wasn't bad...I just think there were some things in the book that just couldn't have the same effect on the screen. Like the little stories she writes in the book that don't make it into the movie (The Word Shaker I believe is what it was called), and the haunting way the book is narrated that he movie just didn't quite capture.

I got to sit in Lois Lowry's living room and fan-girl the crap out of her a few years ago! I was wooing her to be part of a fundraiser my organization was doing(she said yes!). I teared up when I told her how much I loved The Giver.

Good morning~ I had such a good day yesterday, everything just went really well everywhere. Working on the getting back to the pool -Janet and Chris - you are inspiring me! I still haven't bought a new suit yet - plan to go shopping on Friday and try some things on. Re visiting pool options - the gym (where I can also lift and do Pilates) or municipal pool that is closer and I don't need to reserve a lane... Way closer to letting go of caring how I look in a swimsuit, which is where I need to be. Progress.

QOTD - I'm not a huge reader, but there are many books that have stayed with me and opened my eyes over the years. I cannot for the life think of one in particular that changed my life. Most are self-help type that I've taken bits and pieces from. There are some biographies, novels and classics have done the same though. I probably have a little piece of all of them.

Accountability - Spot on. CAMAW day 3 and doing well. Now if I could just to the 150's....

G?morning menu peeps!!

Julia - you can?t keep us in suspense this way. Please share!!

Im plugging along with a modified AMAW. The only thing I?ve added back in is premier protein for my afternoon iced latte. Otherwise it?s AMAW all day. When I open the fridge I longingly look at the yogurt and cheese, but for now I?m staying away from them.

QOTD: Sarah's Key. It's fiction but after reading it on a plane ride and sobbing the whole time it sent me on a fact finding journey for two years. I ordered book after book from people who lived those days in France and the Germans who were in charge. I got to the point I was looking for books that were out of print but one book store somewhere on the east coast had ONE copy from 1960s. It was a very emotional journey and I used to stay up at night, read and cry myself to sleep. My husband kept asking me why I was so invested; I'm not French nor Jewish. I guess in a way I didn't want to believe that a nation can give up a section of its population because of religion. I kept ordering more books trying to find a sliver of hope. My journey lasted about two years. The only thing that made me proud of Mussolini (in a weird way) was that he told Hitler Italian Jews are Italian citizens and we won't send them to Germany. Sorry for my long rambling. This quote in pic is always in my heart

B: sausage links
