What's on your Tuesday Menu, RNYers?
I'm glad you had a memorable first day! I am SO behind on reading here with lots of company this week. I have the first hour to myself in the morning, then we have been entertaining constantly.
QOTD: I really can't think of any book changing my outlook. I've always been a voracious reader, but mostly of fiction.

Good Tuesday evening!
QOTD: There are so many great books out there. Tough question! None that have had a huge impact as far as I can remember. Maybe "Last Chance To See" by Douglas Adams and Mark Carwardine (sp?). I was motivated to seek out more information on different species of animals and their environments.
A busy day compounded by my son having a massive tic attack and being sent home from school. Not enough fluids again... trying to work on another 600ml to bring up the quantity.
B: protein water, coffee, steak and bean soup
L: pastrami, and some cheese, protein water
D: cottage cheese, the other half of yesterday's protein cookie
Liquids 1.3L vitamins and meds on track
exercise foiled by ticcing child

Oh my, that's scary. I've seen a tic on my dog and they gross me out. Poor kid.

Hi Sheila,
wrong kind of tic :-) I am sure they exist in NZ, but not like they do in the US.
My son has Tourette's Syndrome and a bunch of other co-morbids. He has vocal and motor tics or uncontrolled sounds and movement. Most people equate TS with profuse swearing or obscene gestures (about 10% of the TS population has coprolalia or copropraxia. Kurt does not) Unfortunately, one of his tics causes an almost epilepsy type episode or a total paralysis and I have to go get him from school and medicate him. He is usually out for the day as the medication and the ticcing is exhausting. And it is super embarrassing for him as a teenager in high school. Fortunately, he has some good friends who look out for him.
Cheers,
mathea

Uh-oh, please forgive my ignorance.
I'm so sorry for what you teenage son goes through. It must be really hard on the whole family.

No worries! I just assume (incorrectly) that everyone has a 13 yo with TS and gets it.
About 85% of the time he goes through life with very few bumps in the road, but extreme heat or stress can bring on the worst. Yesterday it was stress. My hubby is off for a 5 day conference in Auckland and it is end of term for school, plus the impending move. Just too much for him to process.
Have fun,

Thanks for explaining. I had an OBGYN with TS and he had good days and bad ones. Hugs to you and your son. I hope tomorrow is a better day.

Morning all! Day 5 of heat index over 100 and air quality alerts. I've had a headache each day and my stomach has started to feel really queezy. Last night I ate a few cold steamed shrimp and 2 SF popsicles plus an extra protein shake. Meat isn't agreeing with me so I am eating small portions and trying to stay hydrated.
I am back to swimming an hour of laps. It feels so good to be in the water these hot days. I still need to work on getting stronger, but it is truly helping my mental state of mind. I'm debating going to deep water aerobics tonight but I'm not released to do any ab work yet so I'll have to not do that part of the class.
No outside walking for me at lunch today but I'll do a couple of miles of indoor walking including running the stairs.
QOTD: I have always been a reader, but I'm not thinking of a book in particular. The one book that was really helpful in preparing for RNY was: Emotional First Aid Kit
I really suggest it for newbies and folks thinking about surgery.
Menu:
Breakfast: scrambled eggs with cheese, chicken breast
Snack: Cappuccino protein shake, chomps, almonds
Lunch: fish, salad
Snack: protein shake, turkey breast, apple, string cheese
Dinner: not sure since it is so hot
Lots of SF popsicles
Exercise: swimming and indoor walking
