What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?

Hi, everyone. This is a catchup post, because I really don't spend a lot of time on my computer on the weekends to keep up with posting my menus.

I guess I left off Thursday night, with dinner being uncertain because I had an after work event. That went fine - we went to Chili's and I had a side dish of the chili shrimp that they put on their salads. It went great - no tummy issues. Hooray!

Friday I had:

1 Premier protein
1 egg w/ Salsa & cheese
2 pcs Salmon nigiri and the hardboiled egg from my daughter's ramen
Totals: 591cal, 60g protein

I was excited at Friday dinner that I was able to add sushi, enjoy it thoroughly, and get a great dose of protein. Sushi was my favorite pre-op food and being able to have two pieces and really savor them and make a meal out of them was thrilling.

Saturday was:

1 Premier protein
2 string cheese
1 bag Shrewd Food protein puffs (at the movies with the family - these were a great popcorn substitute!)
1 Eggface savory zucchini pancake w/ greek yogurt
Totals: 606cal, 67g protein

Sunday was:

1/2 egg with salsa and cheese (it wasn't sitting well with me so I didn't finish the meal
1 premier protein (took it to a kids birthday party - Tip to those afraid of being "noticed"... nobody cared that I wasn't eating the junk food.)
2 Eggface Spring onion/ricotta pancakes + cream cheese smear
1 more premier protein, because I tried dinner with the family (grilled chicken thighs), but they came back up since I either ate too fast or just was not ready for that item...
Totals: 625cal, 77g protein

As for today - since I had a bit of an adventurous weekend and ended it with an upset pouch, I'm doing two protein shakes today, along with a cheese stick. I'll have quiche with the family tonight, but mine will come off the crust, so my macros aren't quite accurate.

qotd: My strangest "first day" would probably be when I put myself back through college. I left a job to return full time, and during the winter, they asked if I would come back to cover for someone who was out on medical leave. I ended up doing the same thing during the summer when they let someone go. Anyway, the reason the first day was so strange was because I was "new" to a lot of people in the office, but while I was waiting to get my accounts, I ended up mentoring people. I think it was weirder for them than for me, honestly.

Hope everyone has had a great Monday so far!

Hi everyone! Happy Monday!

JB, sorry you forgot your lunch, but best of luck in your new job!

I had a really nice weekend! I checked out a 3-day herbal conference here on the island to see if it would be worthwhile vending there next year. From a financial standpoint, it didn't look very robust, but then again it was pouring and the vendors were all set up in little rented canopies in a dripping, chilly clearing in the woods. The rain probably reduced buyers who might otherwise be wandering through. I probably won't try to vend there next year.

Saturday evening I went to a party in Seattle with a friend. It was potluck, but I just tagged along - my friend had made two loaves of zucchini bread to bring. There were tons of people, most of whom were old friends (not of mine though!). Lots of Canadians were there. Half of us wanted to talk politics and half were tight-lipped. The Canadians were very polite and basically refrained from commenting, biting their tongues even when asked their point of view. I guess they knew there could be a mix of opinions amongst the Americans and didn't want to spark trouble, such diplomats! Aside from that it was a lot of fun. I had two deviled eggs, some excellent Swiss cheese, a few blueberries, and some killer king salmon. (Seriously, what with all of the salmon, blackberries and blueberries consumed up here, you'd think Washingtonians were all half bear!).

One of the women there who had once seen something I'd designed (a pretty printed dish towel) told me that if I sold those at the nearby annual Anacortes Arts Festival, I'd sell out. I checked it out online and it does look like a very well attended big deal. I'd have to apply for a spot - they don't accept just anyone - and send along images of what I'd be selling, as well as a photo of what my 10'x10' booth would look like. Vendors have to get their applications in by sometime in the winter for this August event. It costs $385 for that single space, plus 10% of your sales. So I am going to try to prepare for that for next year!

Last night I took my son out for dinner, and had king salmon again, with three tiny spears of asparagus. I gave the risotto to my son. The food was good, but the waiter was the absolute worst. I was feeling expansive, and so gave him a decent tip anyway - may be his dog had died, or there was some other heartbreaking reason why his performance was so lousy. If so, I didn't want to add to it. Of course, the probability was that he was just a lousy waiter! Anyway, it was really nice to spend time with my kid!

I realized that since I arrived in Seattle on March 1, I have lost 40 pounds. It's funny, because when I got here I was feeling so bouncy and lithe and svelte, yet here I am, 40 pounds lighter and very aware that I still have 40+ more to go! So that's it on the berries and veggies for a while. I almost never have carbs, except when I go out, and then they are very limited. So back to (almost - except for the cashew milk in my tea) CAMAW for me, until Saturday when there's a (belated) 4th of July block party here! I know there will be burgers, brats, and hot dogs. I'll make something else I can also have for my potluck contribution - maybe deviled eggs.

QOTD: Long ago, I was getting ready for my first day on my new job in advertising, when I got a call from the agency. The two men I would be working for had been flying back to L.A. when their small plane crashed - a horrible and fatal crash! So my job vaporized before it began. Poor guys, poor families.

F: two huge mugs of tea

B: ham with smoked gouda

L: tuna

D: roast beast

S: turkey, if necessary

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

So many opportunities. Isn't it funny that once we feel better about ourselves, we put out that energy and opportunities come our way.

Wow, 40 lbs since March??? You are unstoppable. Great job, Cara!

Thank you Sheila! I have been at 180.4 # for the past 4 days - can't wait to step on the scale to see that I've entered the 170s! Just a few more 10-pound blocks and I'll be at goal! Then a Dexa scan to determine where I'm really at in terms of bodyfat...exciting! I still don't know how much I should weigh, and hope I can go a little under to give myself wiggle room - but just how much under will be best and wisest, I have no idea! But I will find out!

Thanks! I am determined, Amy! I decided that I need to the more social, and so far so good. I'm excited about the opportunities up here for arts-oriented business growth, and will do my best to build a new direction.

I honestly just feel so very fortunate! I'm driven and attentive, but it really is the miracle of this surgery which has given me back my life. Without it, no way would I be here. So grateful to my surgeon and all the powers that be!

Really quick post while I?m waiting for Emily at her school. JB, just wanted to pop on and say I hope you have a great first day back. I?ll be mostly MIA this week as we tie up moving. I literally have been non stop since I woke up this morning. My menu will be pretty typical and I?ve still stayed away from almonds! I hope everyone has a great day/week.
