A little bit nervous

My docs said there was no post in getting the EGD at the early stage. Like you, my ulcer was suspected based on symptoms and was being treated with a PPI and Carafate. They said if it gets better, they got it right...if it didn't get better, they would go in and do some more invasive searching.
Don't be nervous about an EGD. It is an easy, minimally invasive procedure, with no incisions or significant recovery; they use twilight sedation, and it doesn't take that long to do. However, you may feel a sore throat afterwards, but not for any length of time. The doctor will be able to examine the lining of the esophagus, stomach, and first part of the small intestine. Better to get this data now to properly diagnose your current condition. Good luck.
I had a bleeding ulcer 2 or 3 years ago. They found and fixed it with the same scope. It was an easy fix.
Most likely, they won't try to repair a non-bleeding ulcer. They'll prescribe a PPI and carafate, and allow it to heal on its own. Very often, they'll put you on the meds and see if the symptoms resolve, without a scope.
Sometimes ulcers just happen, but there are things that can avoid them. Smoking, alcohol, and NSAID use are leading culprits. If you are doing any of those, stop.
