Iron question !
What type of iron (not the brand) is it?

Gee I've just had to start taking iron and am finding I'm experiencing some heartburn (as well as other tummy issues) and wonder if could be related? Haven't taken iron in years and it was a different type back when. When I saw the nurse at the clinic for my recent follow up she seemed to think I should be able to decrease the PPI I've been taking for years to once a day with the goal of stopping altogether, but the recent resurgence of heartburn make me think nope not now. I figure I'll wait to consult my Fam Dr on next visit.

I've taken both Vitron C and Feosol ( carbonyl-turquoise box ) with no problems whatsoever. I can find either one on Amazon. It's getting more and more difficult to find carbonyl iron in stores, which chaps my ass because it's a much better form of iron in general. You'll need to add Vitamin C with both of these, even though Vitron C contains some added C, it's not enough. You need 200 mg of Vit C for every 30 mg of elemental iron.
There are types of iron that are better absorbed than ferrous sultfate, which is what you're taking now. Carbonyl is one; Heme iron is another. I've never taken heme iron but I have seen quite a few people here having good luck with it as far as iron levels go. I have no idea how it may act in regards to an upset stomach or heartburn.
Here are pictures of the labels: sorry pictures are huge.

Right now, I take two of the Vitron C plus another 500 mg of Vitamin C every night before bed. I've never had an issue with them except being hard to find lately, which is why I rely on Amazon. I think the Vitron C is more cost effective.
You have to keep track of your ferritin and iron levels so you know how much to take. You may need one-you may need more. I can take one per night, but I just had knee surgery and felt like I needed to bump up my intake for a while just to be on the safe side.
