What's on your Thursday Menu, RNYers?
Interesting about the veins being pronounced. I've noticed that the veins in my thighs and calves are sticking out and I wondered if I was getting varicose veins. I still have so much sagging skin on my thighs that it is hard to tell what is fat and what is just extra skin.
I do know that the last Dexa shows that I have about a 23% BF in my arms, so if I should lose fat anywhere, that is the area to target.

VSG 2013, RNY conversion 2019 due to GERD. Trendweight here!
Yes, but some good strength training can increase my lean muscle mass there. Won't take care of the saggy skin though!

for me- not speaking on anyone else's experience-
its very hard to get out of your brain on the scale number after you have been focusing on it intently for the past 2+ years. I have had a come to jesus in the past 2 months. i decided last november I wanted to be the healthiest person possible and be STRONG. This meant resistance training and weight lifting- which initially meant gaining weight which scared me to death after it happened. I thought- I'm a failure in this surgery because now I don't weigh 118. seriously???? oh my size 0 and 2 pants don't fit anymore because now i have a round butt/thighs from lifting and squats. I told my sister and she put it into perspective, stop complaining and go buy new pants that are bigger. I didn't want to hear that because I was scared of the judgement of weighing more.
I'm finally coming to terms and seeing so major body composition changes that are happening and although the scale is moving downward at a very very slow pace, I'm the strongest and healthiest I have ever been. All of that has to be taken into consideration in my case.
At one time I had DEXA scan and it showed average body fat at 20%. My BMI was 26
Then I lost 15 more lbs (due to illness) My upper body was literally skin and bones. My legs are usually "fat storage" but they too got smaller. I knew my body fat % dropped to 17-18, but that I also lost muscles (back of my legs and my butt, back- shoulder muscles etc.)
I got "skinny". At that weight my BMI was 24.2. Part of me wanted to stay that weight, the skinny, but I knew that I needed to gain, because one bad illness or food poisoning, could make me really sick.
Plus at the lower weight - I mentally did not feel good. Since I really had no reserves, I had to eat every couple of hours because if I did not, my BS would start dropping.
Low body fat also can cause low cholesterol. With cholesterol too low, that can cause depression, hormonal imbalances, difficulty in healing wounds, hair loss, etc etc...
Part of me wanted to stay at the low weight, but I knew I needed to gain some.

Oh, I love the Jason Bourne movies! Enjoy a chill movie day! I'm hoping to see the new Jurassic Park on the 4th!
qotd - I'm not big into summer, so probably my biggest summer tradition is spending the 4th of July at whatever big blockbuster movie is out - I like a blockbuster with lots of special effects and explosions!
accountability - no surprise mochas, but i feel like I've just eaten too much. Time to scale back a bit! Fortunately, we're wrapping early today so the Brits in the meeting can watch the World Cup so I can avoid another restaurant meal!
b - 1 egg + 2 sausage links
s - coffee with 1/2 and 1/2
l - premiere protein
d - syntrax chocolate

have a terrific Thursday!

Look at me posting early. Of course, it is 4:30 here. I am still on East Coast time. A movie marathon sounds like fun. I vote Jurassic Park. Today is girls day. We are going to Camas, Wa for lunch and to poke around in the stores. It is a cute little town about 30 minutes from me. Then I have a Board meeting. Ugh, you know, because...minutes.
Accountability: Not bad. I got stuff all prepped yesterday, so plenty of good choices.
QOTD: Lobster boils and 2 for 1 lobsters sound better than any summer traditions I have. We usually do a family trip to Sunriver ever year. My brothers, SILs, nieces, nephews, etc rent a couple of houses and hang out together for a few days. We are going in August, and my Florida nieces are coming, so extra fun.
3 years, 7 months post op:
B: egg, mozzarella
S: 3 oz chicken thigh
L: ???
D: 3 oz rib eye and 1/2 cup roasted veggies
No totals because I haven?t entered it in MFP yet.
Have a great day!
