I am 27 days out from surgery (6/1/18) and so far have felt no restriction? At what point will I feel this? I can eat about 1/2 cup and then just don't care to eat anymore but it's a head thing not a stomach feel full thing. Is this normal?

What food stage are you on? You will definitely feel it once you progress to dense proteins like beef or chicken.

Soft food stage. I guess I am just impatient! Thanks for response!

That early out I remember 'full' felt much different than I expected. I could go from feeling fine to sick with just one more bite. But I had a hard time with 1/4 cup when I was allowed 1/2 cup. I think it was nausea though I didn't know it at the time. Like Stacy said - dense protein is different and you will feel that for sure.

I am on my 5th month post-op and I've learned to weigh and measure everything. Because one bite too many will put me in excruciating pain. And the difference is really hard to tell it can be very subtle, I have learned to listen to my body and if it feels like I'm getting close I stop.

I've recently started keeping a journal to determine what foods adversely affect me. I keep track of how I'm feeling, if I have nausea, cramping etc. Of course I log all of my food with Fitbit and with the journal I can try to figure out what food it was that caused the problem, rather than just relying on my memory.

Because your nerves were cut, "full" won't feel the same as before. For many months after surgery, the stop eating feeling that I got was more like one minute I'm okay and the next I feel like I'm going to vomit. That is why you need to learn to measure what you are supposed to eat and just eat that. Don't try to eat until you are "full."

I'd like to add -- you are a revision, I was too, from a Lap-band. I have found restriction and "fullness" are nothing like before. Weighing and measuring are the only way to go. I'm getting close to 2 years out and I can count maybe 6-7 times where I felt full, those rare small pouch days.

The games in our heads is the biggest challenge of all!

4 months out and I still don't feel restriction. There have been a handful of times I did feel like I would vomit, and I knew I was too full, but I didn't actually "feel" full. In the very beginning, I'd eat a runny nose or start sneezing, and that was my "que" but I don't so much get that anymore. I also tolerate almost everything I eat with the exception of sugar--I DO dump, and need to watch things like condiments and sauces that might have sugar (like bbq sauces)

i just measure out what my surgeon says I should be able to eat right now: 2-3 oz weighed meat, 1/2 C of vegetable if I have room.
