I was wondering if I was the only one who had issues with soy protein. Pre-op I did soy mochas but changed to coconut milk and never had any problems. Was told to minimize my soy intake due to breast cancer, no estrogen even plant based. I too bought some Kay's Protein Pretzels and other soy based snacks and they cause nausea for me. So I just wasted too much money. Does anyone know of any protein snacks that are not milk or soy based? I don't eat meat only fish and shrimp. I also found out I'm lactose intolerant after surgery.

Do you eat tuna? The little seasoned packs are great for an on-the go snack.

ETA: can you do boiled eggs?

Good morning! I wouldn't miss the taco Tuesday - I'd just have it without the shell!

Yesterday was so gorgeous so I'm glad you made it to the beach. We had appointments in Boston and were gone from 11 am to 7:30 pm. Long day... we drove by the Blue Hills Reservation to avoid an accident on the expressway on our way into Boston yesterday.

QOTD: I have a goal of getting my house in shape (it is kind of a mess after workmen have been traipsing through to do the deck). Also, I need to get travel plans finalized through the end of the year. And I'd like my son to get motivated and move out of my house...

Accountability: I was 100% on plan again yesterday, but am adding dairy back to do CAMAW starting today. Yes, I really do prefer creamer in my coffee!

2 Years, 3 months post-op (maintaining at goal for 19 months)

Always lots of coffee...

B: Eggs, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: Deli turkey

D: Salmon

S: Meat sticks, yogurt

Good morning :)

I'm off to school today to have lunch with some ladies I worked with. I haven't seen them in over a year since I've been on leave and I didn't run for re-election to my position since I knew I was taking time off. It's going to be so weird to go there.

Yesterday I wasn't feeling great so I just stayed home and did a few things. I did a second harvest of the basil forest and got a lot to use up. I will freeze this batch. DH wants to make pesto with the next round but it will be a bit as I pruned some stems back to try and thicken the plants.

QOTD: I think this year knowing there will be so many unknowns and changes I have just left it open. Mostly I guess would be to survive possible sleep deprivation and not totally lose track of my eating/health lol. I also feel like the best strategy is to just go with the flow because I won't be able to control so many things that may come up, so why add stress by trying to say exactly how things should be.

Post-op three years and three months.

Breakfast - protein shake

Snack - cheese whisps and crackers

Lunch - restaurant - I haven't reviewed the menu lately but there was a grilled chicken sandwich that I used to get that is quite tasty.

Snack - protein bar if I'm still on the road

Dinner - roast pork and veggies

Snack - pudding

All water and vits.

Sounds like a great day planned.

I am off to a finance committee meeting for the board I sit on. Budgets, balance sheets and spreadsheets! Oh my! Ha.

Teaching first Art class of the summer at library tomorrow so need to paint and prep today.

QOTD: yesterday made some 30 day goals, because Day 30 is my 60th birthday. Woop! I won't get into all of them but on the daily activity front, want to find some new places to hike and try hot yoga. Erin has inspired me.

B: latte, overnight oats

L: Salad, Turkey, provolone

pre-workout PB and Bulgar wheat

D: TBD but I have Turkey chop meat in there and zucchini

S: protein drink

ex: gym and swimming

Good morning!

Well, I finally got my parents moved in to their new place. We loaded the trucks Saturday, and were supposed to get the keys Monday. Bank/Lawyer mumbo jumbo and a lot of ball-dropping on their end, we didn't get the keys. So I helped my sister move into my parents' old house and unpack. Yesterday I took a day off and STILL sat around waiting until 2:30. It was maddening. When we got things sorted out with the white-collars, we went to work as a family. The trucks and trailers were all unloaded in 90 minutes. It sure made for a long couple of days though. Now they have the task of finding everything. LOL

I stayed on-plan for the most part. We lost a good portion of our moving help because of timing so I was slugging a LOT. So I upped the carbs a bit and had a couple handfuls of mixed nuts to keep me going. Loads of water in the heat and away I went. Today's menu is back to 100% routine.

QOTD: All of my goals in the last year or two have been WLS related so it's a little hard to get out of that mindset. I have lost enough to fit into roller coaster seats with room to spare, and the only thing I haven't done yet is buy a suit. That was a plan a while back. Non-WLS goal......I suppose taking the necessary courses to be considered for a certain job I've been eyeing within my organization. There are a lot of senior guys ahead of me, but if I have the courses under my belt, it can actually supersede that. I'm OK with jumping the line in this case, because I've put in the work and the education. I think that's my biggest non-wls goal on my mind.

The world needs more teachers/principals like you,JB,who love what they do and can pass a love of learning on to their students. I'm in awe of the staff here at the Chaddock Childrens Home who love and care for these troubled kids. Most dealt with abuse and neglect at a young age and now have issues trusting and connecting with adults like adoptive or foster parents. I could hardly deal with my two relatively "normal" boys so know there is no way I could do their jobs. I think it truly is a calling and a gift but I'm so glad there are people out there who have because every child deserves a chance at a happy life filled with love and acceptance. QOTD continue to maintain my weight and stay active. I'd like to make 10,000 steps at least 5 days per week and I'd love to get better at shooting. We've been gone so much I haven't had a chance to practice at the range like I'd like. We'll take the winter off though so that's my plan then. Lily and I have our morning walk done and will take one this evening too. Post op 5 years 9.75 months and weight at 118.8 today. Heres the eats B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter L 4 oz chicken breast lettuce salad with ranch dressing D 4 oz flounder 1/2 c lettuce with ranch S sm apple with 1 T peanut butter. Have a great day everyone and make your best choices!

Good morning, everyone.

Today is my first follow-up with the nutritionist post-op. I'm interested to hear her advice and feedback.

My best friend told me last night that she's getting married tomorrow, so my husband and I are going to be unexpectedly taking tomorrow morning off, for the most exciting reason! It's a quick courthouse wedding, but we still want to be there because these folks have been part of our lives for a very long time, and we love them to bits.

QOTD: It's really tough to single out a goal that's not in some way tied up with my weight loss, but I think my primary goal is better self-care. To do more things that are for myself and make me happy and fulfilled. Like meditating (which I'm bad at), journaling, getting massages, and spinning yarn.

Today I'm going to try a new recipe - one of the Eggface pancake recipes. Fingers crossed that it sits easily with me, because if I make a yummy dipping sauce, I bet my kid would eat it, too. Sneaky veggies are sometimes the best veggies. ;)

Lunch today is going to be smaller than this - this is how much I packed but I don't know how much I'll actually eat. Probably a significant amount less.
