Surgiversary - 1 year
Hard to believe it's been a year. The original pic was the morning of the surgery, the smiling pic is this morning
Biggest changes I've made :
I drink water - tons of it. Before WLS I would barely touch water, Diet Coke was my drink of choice.
Protein forward - was never a big meat eater but I've learned to like it. Mostly chicken or turkey with veggies.
Pasta is no longer my friend. And that's OK.
Sweets - icecream, cookies, chocolate. They are still my trigger foods, but in the past my philosophy was "resistance is futile", while now I might take a bite and walk away without wanting to eat the whole darn pint/box.
Exercise - fake it till you make it. Hated it the first 6 months but the more weight I lost the easier it got to move my body. I don't think I will ever be one of those people who love going to the gym but I look at it like flossing my teeth. I don't have to love it but I gotta do it EVERY DAY!
I'm not at goal yet but trying really hard. It doesn't get easier but it has become part of my life style. I'm looking forward to the next year and doing more of the stuff I kept myself back from doing during my heavy weight phase.
