What's on you Wednesday Menu, RNYers?
Mornin!
I'm taking DH to the bus stop in about an hour - he's headed to O'Hare and then off to Portland, OR for a long weekend with some college friend. I was sort of ticked about that for awhile because I've always wanted to go to Portland and figured the two of us would go together some day. Arrrgggh. Maybe I should go to Italy sometime with a girlfriend? (DH has always wanted to go to Italy). Ha! OK - time for me to be over this...
accountability was good again yesterday - weight down another 0.2 lbs. So freaking slow...
QOTD: ugh I hate these kinds of questions. I guess I'd rather be in a wheelchair, but I don't like either of these options!!
3 years out:
B: homemade Greek yogurt with raspberries
MS: coffee with half & half, Miralax/protein shake
L: chicken breast, strawberries
AS: L&F yogurt
D: Caprese salad, chicken breast
ex: yoga
Good morning! Three days until we leave Aruba. Though I will miss it, I am looking forward to going home more than in the past, since I don't have to return to work and I'm looking forward to seeing Justice.
QOTD: I'd want to retain my hands. I think learning how to function without legs would be much easier in the long run.
2 Years, 2.5 months post-op (maintaining at goal for 18.5 months)
Always lots of coffee...
B: Eggs scrambled with cottage cheese
L: Deli turkey
D: Leftover grouper and veggies or going out
S: Protein cake bite (1-3 for dessert, depending on the day)

Good morning :)
I don't know what we are going to do today. Maybe a few small errands, but nothing planned. I had my ultrasound yesterday and baby has finally flipped!! Just in time lol. Stubborn little thing ;)
QOTD: I play piano so I can't imagine not being able to play. That is a very difficult choice though. I think it's hard to consider to because in reality were that situation to arise we wouldn't have a choice - i.e. having an accident or illness.
Post-op three years and three months.
Breakfast - protein shake
Snack - cheese sandwich
Lunch - leftovers
Snack - egg and pickles
Dinner - chicken and asparagus
Snack - pudding (all the cake is gone)
All water and vits.
Good Morning Julia and Menu Family!
QOTD: I can't believe I forgot to post yesterday, so here's my answer to yesterday's QOTD: Glasses, yes. Very nearsighted since 4th grade, legally blind without my glasses. I used to wear contacts, but can't now due to Dry Eye Syndrome. Now I have tri-focals, progressive lenses.
Today's QOTD: Definitely I would want to keep the use of my hands, being an artist and preferring to feed myself and such. But I agree, either option would be horrible. I'm thankful I have the use of both my hands and legs!
Accountability: Yesterday: Protein - 78, Calories - 1,295, Carbs - 176.
B: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks, banana
L: ham & cheese on 45 calorie bread, light & fit Greek yogurt
D: Healthy Choice turkey meal
S: prosciutto & mozzarella sticks, light & fit Greek yogurt, frozen yogurt
E: taking Blossom for a walk
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!
~ Karen
Good morning!
My menu today is pretty standard fare for me. Protein bar/coffee for breakfast, a couple of finger-sized meat sticks that may or may not get eaten. MS/AS: 1/2 cup ff greek plain yogurt with strawberries. Lunch is my wife's chili. I was so happy to see that on the stove this morning. SUpper is likely chili again, to keep it simple and on the cheap. All water and vitamins.
Last night I put together a nice treadmill that my wife's boss gave us (he's moving, and didn't want it). It's gym-grade and was a BRUTE to move but we did it. I'm not likely to use it much as I already walk/cycle a lot and go to the gym but I'm very glad for it. My daughter inherited genes from both parents that predispose her to being on the bigger side. We don't make a big deal of body image stuff because it would damage her emotionally (we all know where THAT could go) but we do preach healthy choices with food and activity. She was thrilled to see it and was standing on it while I was assembling it. As soon as I picked up my tools, she fired it up and walked for 22 minutes. This morning, she was on it again. The novelty of it will pass I'm sure, but I'm hoping that she uses it regularly. She isn't old enough for the gym yet (their rules, not mine). She's 11, but about 5'4 and a solid kid. The more she's interested in bike rides, shooting hoops, swims and walks with Dad, the more I do it with (for) her because team sports aren't her thing.
QOTD: I suppose I'd rather keep my hands. I've known some folks in both cases and I think being chair-bound but having able hands would be better. There is a much improved awareness of accessibility in building design and many other aspects of society. It's much better than it used to be with an increasingly level playing field.
