I haven't had the Outshine bars as most of them are too caloric a bite, since I am only having 625 calories tops per day, often less. The regular sugar free popsicles aren't the most tasty but they are still okay at 12 calories and zero carbs each, as long as I only have one! If I have two that would mean I'd have to adjust my other intake - in other words, less protein for me, which isn't the best trade-off since the protein keeps me going longer. But one is fine. I have been looking for them in the groceries here but haven't seen them yet. I made myself some popsicles a while ago using a shake, but it was pretty awful. Also made some using just tea, and that was okay. But it all hardens so intensely into an icecube, whereas the Popsicles are somehow less hard, though still frozen. There's got to be a trick to making popsicles with a nice texture!

Mornin' All!

the cafe in my yoga studio has free coffee all week from 8:00 - 10:00 am, so I'm back here again!! It's raining again, but it's supposed to be cooler today (thank God) - then we have a couple of rainless days coming up. Thank God again.. Every time we get a heavy rain, the ants come in my house. It's been driving me crazy!!

accountability has been great the last few days, but my weight is only down a fraction. Of course, cutting calories by 200 per day means you lose a pound like every three weeks. Not like the old, pre-WLS days when I could eat 1500 kcal and drop like five pounds in a couple of days! But...it is what it is now. Feeling more in control is rewarding in itself.

QOTD: I started wearing glasses in my 20s, but I really only wear them for driving and when I'm at a meeting or presentation and having a hard time seeing whatever is they're projecting on the wall. My reading vision started declining about 10 years ago, so I got a pair of bifocals then, but I absolutely hated them. Went back to distance-only glasses. But my reading vision has continued to decline, so I got some prescription readers about four months ago. I really only need them when I'm reading a book with very tiny print - so the readers live on my nightstand next to my bed. Like someone else, losing weight has changed my face shape. I used to always get angular, rectangular types of frames because they looked the best on my round face, but now my face is pretty angular (sort of square, I guess - with a heavy jawline), so I really struggle finding the "best" frame for it. I'm glad someone mentioned that site where you can upload a picture and try different frames..

3 years out:

B: Fage full fat Greek yogurt with extra protein powder and strawberries

MS: coffee with half & half, Miralax/protein shake

L: 1 C strawberries with 2 T SF Cool Whip and whatever protein sounds good from my work fridge (I have yogurt, cheese sticks, and beef jerky in there)

AS: maybe a L&F yogurt

D: grilled corn-on-the-cob, TJ's chili lime chicken breast slices

ES: if needed, a grilled peach with a dollop of vanilla yogurt

good morning everyone :)

It's been raining since yesterday evening here off and on and lots of standing water everywhere. we haven't gotten any real flooding in my area yet but there has been quite a bit about an hour west of us where DH's family lives. hopefully it will be done soon and get back to the sunshine! this humid, muggy weather is super uncomfortable. but hey, at least they finally fixed the A/C at my office! it was awful yesterday!

QOTD: I've worn glasses since I was about 11. I used to wear contacts exclusively (except right before bed) when I was a teenager and into my 20's but I had the yearly wear ones and they got protein deposits on them which caused ulcers in my cornea's and that was not good. I finally gave up on them around age 30 when I had such terrible allergies and the prescription eye drops were like $50 for a teeny bottle. They now sell the eye drops over the counter and they are only about $10 so now use daily wear lenses for occasions I don't want to wear glasses. I also just discovered some online websites for glasses and it is SO much cheaper than the eye doctor.
Now my glasses can now be switched out to match my mood/outfit LOL. I have pretty bad vision and can't afford lasik at the moment but I am seriously considering it- my little brother just had it done and he can't say enough good things about it.

Morning Coffee w/half caramel PP
B: greek L&F yogurt
L: leftover spaghetti squash & turkey italian sausage w/parmesan garlic sauce
S: turkey meat stick and string cheese
D: chicken crust pizza

Good morning~ I'm happy today because I don't have any meetings or appointments today! Ahhh, bliss! I can actually get some good work done and take an extra walking break today - Good stuff! Even though I live in California, it's not too hot where I am (coastal) and it's a dry heat anyway. We don't have AC and it's rare that it doesn't cool off after the sun goes down so our ceiling fans are fine. I don't miss humidity - it's miserable.

QOTD - I've worn glasses since I was 12. I have progressives (think fancy trifocals...) I wear them from the second I get up until the second I go to bed. I have prescription progressive sunglasses too. JB- I would recommend trying on everything that appeals to you, taking a pictures of them all (on your face) and then go home and study them before deciding. Get to know what you like and what looks good on you. I like to try new styles and colors, but not everything works on me. I always find 'the one' that I love.

Accountability - Spot on!

B- coffee x2, HB eggs

l- TBD - I packed a lunch I don't want... I have beef jerky or I may go out

d-scrambled eggs with mushrooms

v/l - on track

e-walk, walk walk - closing all my activity rings and hitting my step goal 10 days in a row - woo hoo!

G'morning all!

i live in a coastal area too and it doesn't get too warm. We are in the 60s when in the valley they are suffering the 90 degrees heat. For the weekend we might get into 70s. That's warm for us. Hence we have no AC. It's enough to open the windows and the ocean breeze cools off the house, mother nature's AC.

QOTD: I've had prescription since I was 18, it was mostly for driving. But once I switched to contacts I never went back to glasses. I get a pair of glasses every year but it's for emergencies in case my eyes are too dry. I'd say I wear glasses 2-3 days out of the month. The rest is contacts. Here is another site to get glasses: Warby Parker. You can choose 5 pair of glasses to try which they'll send for free. Once you choose your final pair, you send all 5 back (all of the shipping is free) and they'll send you your glasses with prescription. They are so much cheaper than any store. My whole family gets their glasses from Warby Parker.

Accountability: cal:841 protein:86 carbs:45. More carbs than planned but I had cauliflower rice both for lunch and dinner. So it's "good" carbs.

B: protein shake

L: spaghetti meat sauce + cauliflower rice

S: cheese

D: chicken lime burger (TJ)

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning. Started with a personal trainer today. Boy I need some serious balance work, but it was great. I did spin first, so two hours in exercise today. I'm beat, but smiling. I did very well yesterday - a little heavy on protein, but I'm trying to do more of a CAMAW to finish cleaning up any bad habits.

QOTD

Yes since I was 9. I don't think about it anymore (it's just my normal) and contacts aren't an option due to severe dry eye syndrome. Same for Lasik - not an option. I like my frames, so my optician p'd me off last year with her pricing. So I found REPLACEALENS.com. They replaced my subscription sunglasses for $130 when the optician quoted $450. They did so well that I just did my no lines bifocals with that tint that adjusts as you go in and out (why am I forgetting the brand of that?) and that cost me about $290 IIRC - a fraction of the $675 quoted.

B - pam and fried eggs; sausage; salsa; cheese

S - Dannon Lite and Lively yogurt and some sprouted nuts

L - 1/2 chicken burger and small salad

S - Protein shake or bar depending on my schedule

D - Last of the dad day steak I made and some small amount of veg

HW 510 / SW 424/ GW 175 (stretch goal to get 10 under) / CW 160 (I'm near the charts ideal weight - wonder if I can stay here)

Good afternoon,

Yesterday I took my friend for her shoulder surgery and brought her back to my apartment. I was an hour late yesterday too due to taking longer than I expected. Work was good.

Qotd I wore glasses since fifth grade. I did wear contacts for 10 years but a job was causing a chemical reaction in my eyes when it was sunny so I gave up.

B ham and cheese omelette, string cheese and pork and beans

L tuna, cottage cheese and honeycrisp apple

D probably a protein bar since it's support group tonight at surgery center. Hope more people show up.

Have a good day

My first recovery Pilates session was this morning! I am over the moon! All we did was breathing but she has such a depth of knowledge and has experience with her own abdominal surgery. I cannot wait for my session with her next week. Definitely worth getting up crazy early for!

Qotd: Yep, I currently only need them at night when I drive but I am long overdue for another appointment and I have a feeling that might have changed. Unfortunately though my face is very asymmetrical so any glasses look awkward on me... sunglasses are the worst. But these light grey eyes sorta demand them.

Accountability: I was out yesterday afternoon and forgot to bring a snack. I had planned on treating myself to a Venti passion tango iced tea no sweetener at Starbucks so I also tried the sous vide egg bites. I got the bacon and gruyere kind and then peeled off the layer of bacon and cheese leaving me with the creamy eggy portion underneath. Not the best option still, but they were so soft and moist they went down easily. Calories ended up around 900 because of that.

Bf: 1 slice Dave's killer bread thin powerseed, 1 egg, 1t margarine, 1t sugar free jam

MS: babybel and a homemade sugar free protein cookie (gross, the recipe needs work)

L: 3 turkey meatballs

AS: 2oz refried beans, 1/2 oz Cabot extra low fat cheddar, 1 scoop beneprotein

D: 1/2 serving real good pepperoni pizza, 1/4 cup beets

A premier protein pudding and 4 strawberries at some point.

Calories 800, protein 76g, exercise Pilates and 30 minutes treadmill, water and vitamins!

Hi my menu friends! Happy Tuesday!

Another gorgeous morning here, sunshine pouring down but with a lovely fresh breeze making really pretty music on my wind chimes (I have three largeish tuned metal Woodstock chimes hanging outside of my door, plus one large, magical chime made of different pale shades of pink and green glass. That's my favorite. It's so, so pretty! Hummingbirds always check it out to see if it's as yummy as it looks).

This coming weekend I'm going to kayak for the first time! I'm just going out on the lake here, taking off and landing again from my backyard. Other people I know here go out into the bay - a woman I know found herself in the midst of four seals a few days ago. Seals are incredible and beautiful animals, but being in the midst of them in their home territory in just a tiny kayak would make me feel in the presence of the miraculous, but also very nervous. Though it's not yet open ocean, that is still a little bit too much for me, so I'm sticking with the lake for now. Ducks i can handle! It's kind of funny, in Santa Barbara it's very common to see surfboards being hauled around in/on cars, or of course on the beach and in the water, but up here it's all kayaks, not a surfboard in sight. I've done lots of canoeing in my time and some sailing, but this will be my first time in a kayak. I actually don't have anything remotely athletic to wear - I only have one pair of pants and they won't fit me for another 30-40 pounds or so (I've become very much a skirts and dresses type). No way I am getting in a bathing suit (I also have only one bathing suit which is beautiful but which won't fit me until I'm at least 30-40 pounds down, and now there's a need for plastics, so that would be out even if I was at goal!). Anyway I figured I'd order a pair of compression capri leggings, and some sort of longish top to go over them. Plus God knows what happened to my sneakers, they got lost in the move along with a couple of other pairs of missing shoes and boots, so I'll probably get something to wear on my feet, too. But that's all minor stiff, whereas going out kayaking is big!

Weight-wise my week has been weird. Last week as I approached my 12-month surgiversary, I made a big pot of boeuf bourguinon, which I ate for several days. I used a new recipe which I won't use again. I found that beef a bit hard on my stomach, so actually ended up eating very little all week because more would have been too painful. So I kept losing! But I finished it up and went back to actually taking in 625 or so calories a day of my standard fare, and within days was up almost 4 pounds! This despite no deviations whatsoever from plan, lots of tea, and a good long walk or two every day. It's gradually started to drop back down so as of today I'm up just one pound rather than 4, but it is weird to me, given my almost CAMAW diet (except for the cashew milk I put in my tea) that I have gained at all. Oh well! Onward and downward!

QOTD: I always wear contacts and have done so since high school. I'm old enough that I actually started with hard lenses! Though I buy lenses that can be worn for extended periods, I take them out every night since when I used the hard ones I scratched my corneas badly a couple of times by wearing them for too long without a break, and I don't ever want to do that again. I have a newish prescription for glasses but don't have any yet. I noticed it doesn't include the measurement for the space between my eyes. I tried following online directions for that, but the figure I came up with is apparently not a humanly possible number, so I'll have to have someone else measure that for me. I would like to get some glasses for when I am not wearing my lenses, and am grateful to you guys for posting some good sites for me to try!

First: tea, tea, tea!

B: roast beef

L: tuna with melted smoked gouda

D: chicken

S: maybe some Greek yogurt

Have a beautiful and happy day!
