Amy, thanks for the suggestion of buying the salted caramel tea on Amazon. Silly I hadn't thought of it. But while on Amazon I read a review that the prices were too high ($7.00 a box) while at Walmart it was $2.55. I must live in the boonies because we don't even have a Walmart here in addition to not having Ralph's or Keorger (sp?). But I was able to order it online from Walmart for $2.55!! Can't wait to get them.

I'm glad to hear that you got a good price at Walmart online! I didn't notice the price on Amazon but you are right -that is ridiculous!! I think it may be a seasonal item as my box has a fall leaf theme. I need to get some more, I'm seriously in love!

Mornin' All!

I just turned in the contract and deposit to the company that will be replacing our deck with a screened porch. There's a chance they can do it in August. I hope so - for one thing, I'll be recuperating from PS, so I'll be home - for another, that means we can enjoy it for a month or two before it gets cold (we're going to have storm windows put in it so we can use it for more than four months!! Warm weather season is unfortunately short in Wisconsin!)

Saturday we went to a 1960's reunion all-day thingie on campus (alums were here from all over the country - it was really great!), and yesterday I worked all day (my last weekend shift - YAY!!!)

accountability has been good the last couple of days - I'm really trying as I'd like to lose about five pounds before PS in August...

QOTD: not really. The Midwest doesn't have much of an accent, and I've spent most of my life living in Ohio and Wisconsin. Wisconsinites, however, talk super fast (as do Chicagoans), and they're a bit nasal-y. I used to notice it all the time when I moved here 32 years ago, but I don't anymore, so I probably sound nasal-y now, too. And I know I talk super fast. Some of my southern friends have a hard time keeping up with it. I lived in the South for 10 years. Although I never really picked up a southern accent, I started to draw my vowels out. When I first moved back to the Midwest, people commented on my "southern accent", but when I went back to the South to visit, people commented on my "northern accent". Although every last bit of that southerness is gone now. I still occasionally use some of the words and expressions that are common in the South, though. Not intentionally - they just come out sometimes.

it's my penultimate week at work. Thank God. So much to do these next two weeks with typing up loose ends...

3 years out

B: homemade Greek yogurt, fresh raspberries

MS: coffee with half & half, Miralax/protein shake

L: not sure. I have yogurt, cheese sticks, and beef jerky in my fridge at work, so some combination of that

AS: protein pumpkin pie or L&F yogurt

D: grilled corn on the cob and some kind of protein. Also, a grilled peach - maybe with vanilla Greek yogurt on it

ex: Pilates (already was there!!!)

G'morning all!

JB - love your comics. They always make me laugh. You and Grim are my heroes for doing everything yourselves.

Weekend was great. Sat DH was sick (no, I'm not saying it was great because he was sick...LOL) so we laid low. Sun it was all about him. Morning surf with DS. Mid day hike at a national forest/park near by. Late lunch by the beach and we finished the day by seeing incredibles 2. Such a fun day and very typical DH day. He is always a kid at heart.

QOTD: I've lived in the US for 25 years so don't have an Italian accent, especially bcz I took a course in accent reduction. But those people who know me for a long time or are around for long periods notice a slight accent in certain words I say. But if you talked to me over the phone or just met me you wouldn't know I'm a foreigner.

Janet's QOTD: sorry to be redundant but I'm from Italy. I'm used to guys looking and commenting, but no touching! Honestly the first couple of years I was here in US I was kinda weirded out that men didn't look, I thought I hadn't turned ugly all of a sudden. But different cultures different ways, I understand. In short, I'm good with compliments and opening doors but I'm also very good at putting unwanted attention givers in their place, it's an art we learn in Italy very early on!

Accountabilty: good, some movie candies found their way into my mouth.

V: protein shake

L: chicken skewers or chicken meatballs

S: cheese

D: whatever I didn't have for lunch

Have a great day.

Father's day was so hard for me. I really wanted to call my dad and see if he understands why it is I am not speaking to him. But that would defeat the purpose and undermine the impact I am trying to have. He was abusive to us growing up and he can't just pretend it all never happened. He always says the right things, like he understands but then twists the words later to suit his own reality. I cried yesterday when my husband called his father. Luckily my feelings didn't come out in my eating, even though we ordered pizza for the kids I babysat.

Qotd: Like Liz, my mom was from the Midwest, and my dad from Boston has a crazy strong accent. I definitely dropped R's, and added them unnecessarily. Once I moved to California with my husband (then boyfriend) I put - real- effort into losing the Boston speak. I get it back a little whenever I talk to friends... or sometimes listening to Joe Castiglione on WEEI for the Red Sox games brings it out! I have never lost "wicked" though. I pepper that in practically every sentence!!!

Accountability: So good yesterday! Even though it was "wicked hahd"!

Bf: leftover banana protein pancakes, 1t margarine, 1.5T sugar free syrup

MS: babybel cheese

L: 3 turkey meatballs with mushroom gravy

AS: 2oz Siggi's yogurt, 1 scoop beneprotein

D: 2oz canned chicken, 1t miracle whip, 1/4 cup canned beets

A premier protein and strawberries for dessert probably.

About 800 calories 75g protein

I was estranged from my father for eight years. He was emotionally abusive, not physically. He was bipolar and in his later life, he had Alzheimer's. I'm sure some of his personality had to do with his disease(s), but it was still really hard growing up under those cir****tances. We did finally start talking again and I saw quite a lot of him the last two or three years of his life. People wonder if I regret those eight years of estrangement, but no, I really don't. I'll always be grateful that we re-connected at the end of his life, but I don't regret "missing out" on those eight years. So anyway, my point is, I can relate to what you're saying to some extent...
