What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?

Good morning!

My weekend was great. Friday I went early and had my blood drawn to go along with the upcoming stress test (the last of the 3 tests from my doctor checking stuff out....no reason to be alarmed that I know of). After that, I chaperoned my daughter's school trip. I biked the 6k to her school, locked up my noble steed (Stella) and walked the 1.5k to the local pool. They swam and splashed and so on while her teacher and I had a great conversation, then walked back to the school and biked home. It was hot but not intolerable.

Friday night I had a hard time sleeping. I hadn't done anything overly strenuous (walking and cycling is normal for me for those distances) but I was just sore and couldn't get comfortable. I was not excited for what was to happen Saturday, so that wasn't it. Just some aches and pains, particularly in my hips and lower back.

Saturday is where it got real. I got up at 5, woke up my daughter, packed a few things and picked up her little friend and hit the road. We went to Canada's Wonderland for the day and opened up the park. There was a Christian concert series there called Wonderjam and our church got a deal on tickets. We actually missed the concerts because we were stuck in lines and lost track of time. We closed the park down though and it was so much fun! NSV : I fit in every single ride chair with ease. Last time I was at the park it was a massive waste of money for me (from a ride/value perspective, I still loved watching my kids have a blast). I'd say waste of time, but time with them is an investment even if I was too big to join in on much of it. This time I decided to go on all of the rides that I missed out on. Behemoth was great, but Leviathan was simply mind blowing. 148 km/h and 80 degree drop is almost indescribable. I'm a physics major so I was geeking out on the science of the design (in my mind, so as not to embarrass my 11 year old). The weird part? I felt completely relaxed on the rides. Out of curiosity, I measured my pulse before and after the ride (on the ride wasn't an option). Average of 76. I figure that if my heart can handle a ride like Drop Tower, Behemoth, and Leviathan, it can handle a treadmill for a few minutes.

I ate OK throughout the day, surprisingly. There were a few things off plan, but overall I did fine. We arrived home at 2 a.m. and I don't remember much. I got up Sunday at 7:30 and rode the bike to church (I was drumming). There were technical difficulties so I wound up being the impromptu sound guy (because I know how to run a sound board, being in a band). I biked home and didn't do much Sunday afternoon. Played with power tools a bit but it was too hot out. I slept well last night. Fantastic Father's Day.

QOTD: No accent normally, but sometimes I'll have a hint of southern, and sometimes I'll flip to speaking French and not realize it. When BOTH happen, it's weird. Haha

Good morning JB and Menu crew. Great weekend and Fathers day here as well. My Dad has not been following Docs orders since he has come North and it seems like he is taking a few steps backwards with his parkinsons. I feel like he might have some depression, I just dont know, he was always athletic and active and he does not seem to want to remain diligent with exercise and moving and it is so important with Parkinsons.

QOTD - I live on the Border with Quebec,Ca. Most folks in this area have French Candian heritage and the proximity gives us an accent. Many people from out of the area comment on it.

B - Two hard boiled eggs

MS - Oikos triple zero

L - Cabbage roll in a bowl ( burger, slaw mix and marinara sauce)

S - Salami Mozzerella roll

D - Taco Salad no chips

E - Gym Night

Stay healthy my friends, Mike

Sorry that your Dad is struggling Mike. Depression is probably a good guess. Parkinsons runs in my Mother's side of the family so I had several relatives with it. You probably know that sometimes dementia also coincides with it. That was the case for my uncle.

HI Liz - Dementia is also in the family genes and he has shown issues with short term memory loss when he was tested. I spoke to him at length yesterday and am hoping he will get back after it.

I'm hanging in there at least! I just hate the intense hunger it gives me--it makes me feel totally out of control.
