Good morning! We have moved from Estes Park into Lakewood, CO to stay with BIL for the rest of this trip. He lives near a light rail station so we can take that to the convention center tomorrow and Saturday instead of trying to drive and park anywhere close. Today is a "roam around" day and we are catering to my cousin a bit since we have no other plans. She wanted to tour the Broncos Stadium and see the Museum of Nature and Science. This evening, one of my local friends asked us to come along to a Rifftrax Live event (think Mystery Science Theater).

accountability: not great. Breakfast at the hotel was eggs and sausage, for lunch my cousin and DH wanted to stop at a pizza place. I ate the toppings from 2 slices. Then I sampled a piece of sal****er taffy (there are like, 5 shops that do fresh pulled taffy. We didn't buy any, just had the one sample), and sampled jerky at a jerky shop (we did buy some of that!). We also stopped at a coffee shop on a duck pond and I had a sugar free latte with almond milk. On our way into Lakewood, I drank a protein shake, and I shared some fajitas with DH for dinner, but also had some of the chips and salsa. I'm sure my choices could have been worse, but I definitely feel out of sorts with my eating, and I broke 1000 calories for the first time since surgery. I've already decided to do a "vacation cleanse" CAMAW when I get home.

QoTD: I'm proud that I reached 15000 steps yesterday on my Fitbit, and 12 flights of stairs! I'm a bit stiff today, but last year I would not have been up for all of that walking--the Stanley Hotel tour plus walking all over the Estes Park downtown strip? Nope.

Menu: again, up in the air. Hotel continental breakfast will likely have scrambled eggs and sausage, after that, I have no idea. I'm taking a protein water and some jerky with me today.

I volunteered at DMNS when I lived in Denver; it's one of my favorite places anywhere. I hope you enjoy your visit!

The floors are amazing. Your mama owes you big.

I'm proud of the return of my clavicles.

No exciting food departure.

I can no longer count my dog walking as exercise. My dog is so slow. She has a bad leg and she's an obsessive grass eater. I've started taking walks by myself. I have to drive down the street so the dog won't "catch" me. That's kind of pathetic.

Clavicles are incredibly underrated!

I am happy to loan you a cat (or two) to chase after if you need the exercise!

My cat encourages immobility. He gets on your lap and becomes very upset if you move at all.

I can so relate to hiding from the dog for the walks. Our dog didn't have feeling in her back legs in the last year of her life so she had a wheel chair but even with that couldn't walk long or fast. As soon as I would put my sneakers on she would give me the look "you are going without me?" So I hid my sneakers in the garage and would sneak out without her realizing. The things we do for our fur babies!

good morning everyone!

Today is going to be beautiful...I really wish I didn't have to be stuck inside all day, but maybe I'll go for a nice walk with Story after work this evening.

QOTD: I am trying to establish a workout "habit" and they say it takes about 30 days to form a new "good habit" or break a bad one....so yesterday I really really did not want to do it, but i forced myself and it felt really great after. I kept telling myself, "ok just 2 more minutes" and would go 2 and then I'd say "OK 2 more"...etc.
I only did 20 mins on the elliptical but I was going at a faster pace this time and did about 1.5x the distance I got the day before in the same amount of time, so I was definitely proud!
Also did some weight training but I don't ever mind that. I actually really like the sore muscle feeling after.

Morning: Coffee w/caramel PP
B: L&F greek yogurt
L: leftover gouda stuffed meatball and cheesy vegetables
S: turkey meat stick
D: ham & swiss stuffed chicken breast & brussels sprouts

happy Friday EVE!

Good job on the exercise start!! I don't love the cardio side of things, it's just something I know I have to do!

Good morning! Nice job on the floor! It inspires me to follow through on the rest of our floor project (we are going with carpet again though). I have to do the trim sanding and painting, and I actually look forward to that part. It's in the garage already, just waiting for me.

THis morning I had my ecg (the 2nd of 3 tests they wanted to do to check things out with that thing bouncing around in my rib cage). Everything sounded normal and looked like it was functioning like it should but what do I know? Not worried about it in the least, it is what it is. It sure was cool to see flaps and valves and things doing what they do. The heart is amazing. I like to think that the 177 lbs lost, the exercise and the proper eating habits in the last 5 years of my life have helped fix things in there. I'll do my part. God and the docs will do theirs.

Yesterday I had noticed that my weight crept up a few lbs in conjunction with being a little "backed up" for a couple of days. I'll spare you the details of the past 24 hours, but from yesterday to today I dropped 4.7 lbs, which is more than what crept up. I'm amazed at what a couple extra litres of water will do on top of eating right and being really active.

My menu today is a protein bar (though I was weak-kneed when I woke up so I had a little serving of Vector cereal pre-biking to the doc) and a coffee for breakfast. MS/AS is an Oikos with a bit of cereal thrown on top to bring texture to what I'm eating (and fibre). Lunch is a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese with 1/2 can tuna, and a baby cucumber chopped up. Supper is unknown but light.

I have to add texture to my food because I have no real sense of smell. I had a chemical burn as a teenager (concentrated chlorine gas) and it messed up my nasal passages and taste buds, burned my airways, lungs and so on. The result is a couple of decades of not smelling anything, then I started to smell a little bit but I can't identify what it is. My taste buds are all messed up, so what I smell and/or taste is not necessarily what you would. It's very weird. So texture is important. It made the puree stage just hell for me.

I'm OK though. when the kids were young, I was "the diaper guy" because I didn't have to deal with the odour that the little poop factories made.

Anyway...QOTD: I'm proud this week of my kids. Both of them are in an all-French learning environment and are really doing well with it. I can converse with them in English or French and they now follow right along in conversation. My youngest is in 2nd grade and this year has really stepped up her game. The oldest was calling out letters and reading at 18 months and is ridiculously smart at 11.5 yrs old. Proud papa with both of them. :)
