What's on your Wednesday menu, RNYers?
Good morning! Woke up to fresh mountain air--this hotel is not air conditioned, but the windows are wide open and I slept like a baby. Pictures below are of the hotel, the interior of the landing of the grand staircase, and room 217-the room Stephen King stayed in when he was inspired to write The Shining. The room number plate is missing, and I assume it was stolen by a fanatic? Or the hotel may have removed it.
No creepy activity was experienced during our stay, just some creaks and groans that can be easily explained by the age of the building.
Qotd: I usually eat while working, and then use my 30 minutes lunch to walk--been doing the stairs and walking the corridors. Not enthusiastically enough to get sweaty for the rest of my workday but enough to be moving my body :)
menu is again up in the air. I did well yesterday, we stopped at an Applebee's for lunch and had BBQ tacos and ate them without the shells. Last night we ate in Estes Park and I had a buffalo burger (no bun).

What a cool place.
Although if I had known King wrote shining inspired by this place I wouldn't stay. That book and the movie gave me nightmares for years.

Yes, all the exterior shots were the Timberline. I'm honestly not even sure how much of the interior was actually shot at the Stanley. I know Stephen King hated the movie adaptation and produced his own version in the 90s as a TV miniseries and THAT was, I believe anyway, really shot at the Stanley.

The Stanley is such a beautiful place and Estes is a cool little town; did you get into the park at all? It's beautiful!

No, we had breakfast at the hotel, then went on a historic tour (HIGHLY RECOMMEND and I think you can get tickets to go even if you don't stay there) and spent several hours walking around town. By the time we were done we were tired and cranky and knew we had a drive to get back for the rest of our trip, so we didn't go into the park. We're staying in Littleton with my brother in law until we leave for home on Sunday.

Oh, i will have to do that tour when I am back in CO for good. My step dad and mom had motorcycles and lived out east of DIA, about 2-3 times a summer, they'd pick me up and we'd ride the bikes up to the Stanley on a sunday for brunch, always a fun time, good memories.

Mornin' All!
Twenty days until retirement!! (and 12-14 work days, depending on my vacation status - need to check in to that today!!). Halleleujah. It seems like forever, but I know it will go fast. Someone just emailed me to ask me to check on an order he placed months ago (I do a lot of purchasing/financial crap for the library by default because no one else likes to deal with financial stuff). SO tired of this...
151.2 lbs this morning. I feel like a blimp. I think it might be a delayed reaction from the weekend Chicago trip, because I did NOT put on any weight from that, despite eating way more than usual, and the last day or two have been great calorie-wise. Lots of fluids today. And staying on plan. I just realized how funny this sounds - feeling like a blimp weighing 151 when I used to weigh almost 400 lbs. Ha!
QOTD: I almost always eat at my desk, but I usually spend at least 15 or 20 minutes of that doing fun things like reading OH postings or looking at the news or checking my personal email account. I really should start going for walks on nice days (like today!). We seem to have so few nice days here - it's either hot as blazes or zero degrees, it seems... I need to take more advantage of perfect days!
3 years out:
B: homemade Greek yogurt with chocolate protein powder and strawberries
MS: coffee with half & half, Miralax/protein shake
L: boneless chicken breast with 2 T masala sauce
AS: F&L yogurt, 1 C strawberries with 3 T SF Cool Whip
D: either more chicken breast with masala sauce, or chicken salad (made with Greek yogurt)
ex: yoga
I did laugh at "blimp" at 151. I would give my right arm to be 151. Really struggling the last 10-15 lbs. They are coming off at a snail pace.
