What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?
Good morning!
The weekend was good. I worked on my garage and a few odd jobs all day on Saturday and got so much done I ran out of the things to do. So I put up a lawn chair, made a coffee and sat there with my garage door open and watched it rain. Sunday my wife and I got up and went for a drive. We wound up in the US so we did a little retail therapy (rare for me to actually enjoy it) before grabbing groceries and gas, and came home. It was a nice way to spend the day, having farmed the kids out to grandparents. They had more fun than if they'd come with us (swimming, lunch out, etc.).
Menu: I bought some "Chocolate Peanut butter cup" k-cup pods on our excursion yesterday. I've had that with my usual protein bar breakfast. I may actually be in heaven, if not for seeing my surroundings. Lunch will be a shake. Snacks are these really small apples (smaller than a tennis ball) and a meat stick. Supper I'm not sure but not much.
QOTD: I like my job now well enough, but the best job I had wasn't the one that paid the most. I was a long-haul driver and I loved dragging that trailer all over hell's half-acre. I had an old, but one of the more powerful tractors with HUGE fuel tanks on it (a road truck for sure) and it didn't even blink at mountains. I met a lot of cool people (and some not-so-cool) before I made the move to local fuel delivery, also a cool job (which paid diddly sadly). As far as hardest job (but the one that was most peaceful, oddly enough), I was a manual grave digger for a couple of years while I was working pizza delivery at night. The grave digging had to be done by hand because the back-hoe kept collapsing the old graves. It was brutal work but the 2 of us with the shovels were very close buddies and it was always a good day, even in the rain. It actually paid fairly well, but you paid for it in other ways when you went home at night. I always joked that one of those holes I was in was going to be my own.
Good morning! Had a great weekend--did a lot of things Saturday and yesterday I ran a few errands then worked on laundry and picking up the house. We're leaving for Denver tomorrow and I hate coming home to a messy house. Then I feel like I have to clean it, when all I want to do after a long road trip is be lazy!
Due to the vibrant purple color of my new hairdo (pics on yesterday's thread), I was told not to wa**** for 48 hours. Normally that's fine, except she used products to style it, the style no longer looks fresh and my head feels itchy from the two-day old product, so I used dry shampoo and attempted to straighten it, but I feel like I look kind of like a hot mess today.
Qotd: honest to god my favorite job was my first job at Taco John's, mostly because of the people I worked with, who became like family. I lived with several of them at one point, and we still get together for a "Friendsgiving" the night before thanksgiving day every year. The job itself was NOT glamorous but it brought me to these people.
Breakfast: coffee and Premier
lunch: buffalo tuna creations on a bed of spinach, string cheese
dinner: again, something probably easy to throw on the grill. Leaving tomorrow and I don't want to have to do many dishes or have leftovers in the fridge.

I'm with you on the house cleaning before vacation. Idcyou come home to a messy house, you just want to turn around at the door. Plus in my mind I think, what if something happens to us and someone has to come to our house? Crazy I know.

My mother was an immaculate housekeeper. She drove me crazy cleaning. I swore when I had my own house I would never clean, but fortunately I do like a clean house. Before we went on vacation, we cleaned house and as soon as we got back, we cleaned house.

Good morning Jb and menu crew - Happy Belated to Grim- box of meat from Katz deli - it does not get better than that. I have not had a Pastrami from NYC, but have had smoked meat from Montreal and I hear they are similar. My weekend was great as well, busy around the house and Garden and also included a trip to Burlington Vt to go to Costco, Trader Joes and the Christmas Tree shop.
Accountability was good.
QOTD - I have moved up the ladder per say, I am hoping my next job is my favorite. the Job I have now allows me to have alot of control over what I do, I travel and go to China/Hong Kong and am evolving, when hired I was told there would be opportunity to eventually become the plant manager, I am not sure if I have the people skills for it, but am working on it...LOL.
