What's on your Monday Menu, RNYers?
Thanks, I think he will with time. He was super tired the last couple of days and with Alzheimer's sleep is critical (he needs 12-13 hours a day).

it was a busy weekend! saturday took my mom for her christmas present finally. She bought a handgun a couple years back then promptly never learned to use it. So i bought two classes for gun safety and forced 'gifted' it to her. we learned all about revolvers and handguns then had 1 hour on the range. I had never shot a gun before so it scared me. I was almost in tears after the first shot. I ended up doing 40 rounds. we both had a good time and had bbq before class. I also got the car washed and cleaned and used their gym. sunday I selpt a bit later, ate, went to home depot and had a burger no bun.
scale is staying the same! grrr
QOTD: I would say my second job. it was for a bluejean store that bought clothes outright from people, this was pre plato's closet. also the owner was married to an international sales guy specializing in vintage levis. so they told me some very confidential info about what to look for. some will go for 1000 of dollars. When the customer came in i helped pick things out for them if they were receptive. One guy came in once from germany and he needed a 36 inseam in levis and we actually had them in stock. he bought like 6 pair plus other things I picked for him. It was a really laid back job but one that changed me from a shy shy girl to a way less shy girl.
food for today:
coffee
water
salmon for dinner
SF jello with cottage cheese
not sure what else

I grew up in a home with guns and so my dad made us practice at the range regularly. About two months ago, I signed myself up for a refresher course because it had been years. I had forgotten how much fun target shooting could be. There were a number of people in the class that started very anxious and shaky and left with more confidence. Good for your for making sure that if your mom is going to have a weapon, she is trained in it!

Happy Monday!
Here on the surface of the sun, we're not going to break 110 this week, only up to 108 -- it's like a June cool spell! It's actually under 80 right now and for some reason, if the mornings are cool, I can tolerate the rest of the day better. I have a 6 and 6 30 am call and none in the afternoon so with the temp so nice today, I'm going time shift my day and do 6 to 2; I'm so lucky to have the flexibility!
QOTD - for about 10 years, I volunteered at one of the local museums in Denver and was a team leader for one of the weekend shifts. It was my favorite job -- I got to talk to 100s of people a day about interesting things, I got to make sure the volunteers got what they needed to be good guides/interpreters/scholars for the day and it really gave me a lot of satisfaction. I think one of my challenges in settling in now that I'm in AZ has been I haven't found a similar volunteer experience here. i'm also lucky that I generally like my paycheck generating job as well!
Accountability - oh, this weekend was tough. I stayed at a friends Friday and Saturday and we had a BBQ with mutual friends on Saturday night. No issues resisting the wine but I had to have a lot of mental conversations about all the snacks and apps -- I did let myself have two extra bites of cheese (logged and accounted for, along with the appropriate waiting periods for liquids) so that worked out ok.
B - 1/3 premier + Coffee
S - 1/3 premier + coffee
L - 2 oz mozzarella and 1 oz salami
S - 1/3 premier
D - 2 oz ground beef, 1 oz cheese
Exercise - pilates tonight, looking forward to it!
Happy Monday -- hope it's the start to a great week!

Mornin' All!
I'm off today! May go to Pilates in about a half hour (I need to get crackin' if I'm going to make it, though!), then to a coffee shop armed with the newspaper and my laptop. Meditation class at 11:45 (the wonderful one with the gongs and singing bowls). Then a contractor is coming over at 1:00. We've had these deck stairs that we've needed to replace for years, plus the sliding glass door that goes out to the deck now needs to be replaced as well, and we're not even sure we want to keep the deck. We almost never use it. Part of us is thinking a nice balcony. I've also thought of a screened porch, but if we don't use the deck, would we use a porch? Plus porches are pricey. We'll see if this guy has any other ideas. Anyway, more money after buying a new (to us, anyway) car and my upcoming plastic surgery. Bye bye cushion...
we spent most of the weekend in Chicago. Saturday night we met up with a friend we haven't seen in ages. He's a native Chicagoan but now lives in FL. Unbeknownst to us, he was in Chicago for the weekend - which we knew only because both he and I "checked in" to restaurants on FB - and we were only about 10 miles apart! So we met up with him after dinner. Sunday we met up with my second cousin and third cousin whom I met a few years ago via DNA testing. Another third cousin, whom none of us knew before, was in town for a wedding. She lives in California now. We also met her through DNA. We had a wonderful time with her!!
I ate WAY too much on the trip (Middle Eastern food - plus dessert - on Saturday - and then a Polish buffet on Sunday. TOO MANY POLISH PASTRIES). But - my weight was down this morning. Go figure. I'm going to be really careful this week, though. I want to lose five lbs before plastic surgery, and so far I'm not having much progress..
QOTD: I guess my best job is my current one, although I'm starting to burn out on it (retiring in three weeks - YAY!!). It has offered tons of variety, I'm allowed to work remotely as long as I'm available by phone and IM (and obviously, don't have meetings or desk shifts....), plus I often get to do really fun things like read book reviews (which I love to do at coffee shops while slamming a quart of coffee). Plus my supervisor is pretty hands-off and our staff is just wonderful to work with. Sometimes I think I'm nuts to leave, but then, it's just time. I don't want to become some burnt-out deadweight.
