Mornin' All!

that picture of Sookie the kitten really bothered me. Things like that are SO upsetting to me. I have no idea how some people can be so cruel.

accountability was great yesterday, but weight is still too high. I've had a lot of sodium this week, though, so maybe it's still working it's way out of my system. I hope. Lots of fluids again today...

the monthly Friday night dinner with my former co-workers (now all retired) is tonight, but I bowed out. I've had things going on every night this week, and we're in Chicago for the weekend, and plus I don't want a restaurant meal when I'm dealing with this sodium bloat. Plus we'll be eating out this weekend while we're out of town.

I and DH and a couple of my cousins whom I met through DNA testing (a double third cousin and a second cousin once removed) are meeting up with a third cousin from California whom one my Chicago cousins met through DNA. She'll be in town (i.e., Chicago) for a conference. Looking forward to meeting her! Also looking forward to eating Middle Eastern food!! (the Chicago 'burbs seem to have a lot more Middle Eastern restaurants than we have here in southern WI. I LOVE Middle Eastern food!!). We'll be in the city itself on Sunday. We're lunching at a Swedish restaurant and going to the Swedish-American museum (we all have the same Swedish ancestors) . Should be a fun day!!

I'm on my work laptop so I have very few pictures - all of which I've already posted. Well, there's a before and after picture of my cat's teeth after her dental work, but no one's going to care about that!

QOTD: I was a teen in the 70s. I like early 70s music, but I absolutely hated disco and other late 70s music when it first came out. I do listen to oldies stations often when I'm driving (but only NPR/BBC at home), but nothing is jumping out at me that I typically crank. I used to crank Badfinger tunes all the time, but I rarely hear them on the radio anymore :-(

3 years out:

B: homemade pumpkin yogurt with 1 T cacao nibs

MS: coffee with half & half, Miralax/protein latte shake

L: 1 C leftover pork/veggie stir fry (no rice)

AS: probably yogurt or protein pumpkin pie

D: turkey taco meat with lettuce, tomato, Greek yogurt, and salsa

Good morning. Accountability was fairly terrible over the last day or two. I'm not sure why I was grazing so much, but I know I need to get back to the basics. So was thinking I might CAMAW over the next week or 10 days to shake out the cobwebs. Then I got my incentive while getting coffee this morning to push me over the edge. I was in line behind a woman who was about 100 pounds overweight (maybe more) and she was buying two sugared pops 20 oz each, 2 300 calorie bags of Chips, two slices of pizza and some cookies (quick math in my head was about 2400 calories for her this morning). I suddenly saw a future possible version of me standing there doing the same things unless I snapped out of a few bad habits I've let creep in since vacation. So back to basics and locking in on protein forward. I'm not getting within 15 pounds of goal range and bouncing off. Been there and done that too many times. Plus a coworker I've mentioned before who had surgery two weeks before me has gained so much of her weight back that it's a major reminder that autopilot sucks! Don't go there.

But on a positive note - I know what I need to do. So executing forward. Here's my photo of me styling my new hat I got while on vacation. I took it right before going on the kickoff walk for the summer of activity program my company engages each year. Last year at the kickoff - I did the same walk, but last year I had to use a cane and walker (and stopped 10 times in the 1.2 miles). This time no assistance devices, no stopping and finished the walk in just over 20 minutes (it took 50 minutes last year). I was still the caboose, but it felt great. But I did realize that all my exercise is helping, but I need to do some simple walking - it was harder to walk a straight mile then I thought it would. I need to get out more this summer and will do that for sure. Right now I'm forced into that since my wife had surgery yesterday and I'm on dog walking duty for the next two weeks. So lots of walks already and many more in the future.
