That is awful I am glad you are safe. I have a good friend who bikes everywhere in the city (Cambridge, MA) and she has been hit twice--once in a situation like yours and the other time was more serious, when she was slammed by a person opening their car door and nailing her. I don't think I would ever be brave enough to be a city biker!

Yikes! I've been doored once about 15 years ago. At the time I was probably 350 pounds chugging along on my mountain bike so there's some momentum there. I wasn't speeding like a maniac biker but I was biking I'd say....with purpose. I took the door of the Honda Civic clean off at the hinge after a little old lady whipped it open without a glance. She was in tears and absolutely terrified. The bike, the door, and I skidded along for about 20 feet and traffic (thankfully) stopped in both directions. I got up and I was a bloody mess from the asphalt rash, the door and I had some scrapes and bruises but not otherwise hurt. My helmet did its' job. Somehow I wasn't even really mad, just concerned I didn't clip her in my performance and she was in more shock than I was. She was fine after a minute, and the ambulance came to check me out. A cop was behind us and took control of things right away which was cool.

I can't remember what she was charged with if anything, but this was well before new Ontario laws came into effect (dooring, 1 metre clearance, etc.) At any rate, she got her car fixed up and replaced my bike for me, which is all I really needed. My boss insisted I take the next day off to just recuperate, which I reluctantly did.

OHHH... Now that I've read the other posts, I do wash all my pots and pans by hand (though everything else goes into the dishwasher).

Mornin' All!

My weight is way up this morning - I hope this is just sodium. UGH. We ate in again last night, but I've been eating at the top end of my calorie range the last few days, and I'm thinking too much sodium to boot. Time to change it up!

I really don't have anything to do that requires me to be in the office today, so I'm going to try to telework all day. This almost never works (I go bats after about two hours), but we'll see...

QOTD: I read the newspaper online, but books, never!

2 years 11 months out:

B: homemade Greek yogurt with strawberries

MS: coffee with half & half, Miralax/protein shake

L: TJ's chili lime chicken strips, Asian-style kohlrabi salad (ha! There's one of my big sodium sources - had the same thing yesterday for lunch)

AS: yogurt or protein pumpkin pie

D: ?? something safe!!

My weight was up over my comfort level for a few days, so I looked back and saw high sodium levels. I dropped it quite a bit yesterday and was 2 pounds lighter this morning than yesterday morning. I guess I'm sodium sensitive too!

I was sodium sensitive even before surgery, but it seems to be worse now. I also had 2 servings of instant miso soup yesterday to try to keep myself feeling bloated so I wouldn't eat. That stuff is loaded with sodium, too. If I try to stay away from it and drink a lot of water the next day or two, this weight should be gone. I hope...

My biggest downfall was mozzarella/prosciutto sticks - filling but lots of sodium

Good morning :)

I don't know what I'm going to do today... Apparently I have a parcel to pick up, but I'm not expecting anything that I can think of. Last night I had a weird low blood sugar reading after dinner. I ate some food to bring it up and it went too high. I'm going to keep a close eye on it today.

QOTD: DH really wanted to buy a nice kitchen mixer, saying that I could use it for baking. I love mixing by hand -- baking is my zen place. However, since getting the mixer I have found myself using it quite a bit because it is a lot quicker for certain things. Other than that I think most of my life has migrated to digital... Maybe I will also add reading paper books over digital.

Post-op three years, two months.

Breakfast - protein shake

Snack - cheese and homemade muffin

Lunch - zucchini lasagna

Snack - toast and PB

Dinner - leftover BBQ chicken

Snack - pudding

All water and vits.
